Crypto Exchange Sign-Up Bonuses Compared: 13 Welcome Rewards (2026)

Updated Rules checked 2026-10-21

Most exchange new-user bonuses are not cash you can withdraw. They are fee rebate vouchers, deduction vouchers, futures trial funds or interest-earning bonuses, and you only get them by finishing identity verification, deposit or trading tasks before a deadline. “Up to X USDT” is the cap for all tasks added together, and the top tier usually needs very large trading volume. What you can withdraw is mostly the profit made with trial funds, or the few USDT rewards and airdrops that are marked as withdrawable.

In most cases you can get both a new-user bonus and a referral code rebate, because they are separate programs. The catch: OKX, MEXC, BingX, HTX, XT, WEEX, Ourbit and others state that fees covered by a voucher or trial funds earn no rebate, and KuCoin has also run a new-user campaign that explicitly excluded users invited by promotion partners.

I put the new-user rewards listed on the official pages of 13 exchanges into one table, and worked out, for someone trading 100,000 USDT of futures a month, how much a one-off new-user voucher and a referral code rebate each save over three months. Campaigns change often, so the official campaign pages take precedence.

Key points: Binance’s newcomer tasks can be redeemed for Trading Fee Rebate Vouchers worth up to 100 USD in total; they refund spot fees only, and the tasks are issued only after you complete identity verification. Pionex’s new-user task rewards are an interest-earning bonus valid for 7 days; the principal is taken back at expiry, only the earnings in that period can be withdrawn, and Pionex states only that the annualized yield is no lower than 0.01%. Under WEEX’s new-user futures tasks as adjusted on 2025-04-18, the top tier pays 8,085 USDT for 1,000,000,000 USDT of cumulative futures volume; at a 0.08% Taker rate, the fees on that volume come to 800,000 USDT. The rules at both Bybit and MEXC state that the Bonus itself cannot be withdrawn, but profit made trading with it can. A futures fee rebate voucher with a 100 USDT face value, a 50% ratio and a 30-day validity refunds only 25 USDT to someone trading 100,000 USDT of futures a month, which is 16.7% of their 150 USDT in fees over three months.

The information below was checked against official pages on 2026-10-21 (data check date) and is provided for reference.

What is an exchange new-user bonus?

A new-user bonus is a set of task rewards an exchange gives newly registered accounts. Each exchange names it differently: newcomer tasks, New User Bonus Program, welcome package, Welcome Gift, rewards hub tasks. The common structure is “do one thing, get one reward”, and the usual tasks are signing up, identity verification (KYC), a first deposit, a first spot or futures trade, plus a set of cumulative trading volume challenges.

Once a reward reaches your account, you usually still cannot use or withdraw it right away. OKX’s terms state that new-user rewards enter a lock-up period after they are credited, during which they cannot be withdrawn or traded, and the reward may be digital assets of equivalent value, trading bonus or a rebate card (OKX New User Bonus Program terms). Bitget’s welcome package goes through a 3-day observation period after the campaign ends; you then have 2 days to claim it manually in the rewards center, it is sent to the Coupon Center, and it becomes void if you miss the window (Bitget rewards center guide, published 2025-01-23).

What does each of the 13 exchanges give new users?

The table below shows the new-user rewards stated on each exchange’s official help pages or campaign pages. Amounts, thresholds and deadlines vary by region of registration, sign-up channel and campaign period, so the tasks shown in your account after you log in are what count. The last column answers one question: if the same account signs up with a referral code, can it get both the new-user bonus and the referral code rebate?

Binance’s list of countries and regions excluded from its new-user rewards includes the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Japan, Singapore and Hong Kong, among others; Taiwan is not on the list. Bybit’s three Referral Program tasks apply only to invitees who signed up after 2026-10-10 12:00 (UTC). Rewards are issued first come, first served each day, with priority for invitees with higher trading volume, and the monthly total is 500,000 USDT; once it runs out, there is nothing left. This is the program for user referral codes; which program applies to people who sign up through an affiliate link is not stated in the official FAQ.

How should you read “up to X USDT”?

“Up to” is the total if you finish every task and every random reward lands on its maximum. What most people actually receive is the first few low-threshold tasks. When you see the headline amount, find out how much trading volume the top tier needs, then use the fee rate to work out how much you would pay in fees. That tells you how far that “up to” is from your own situation.

Exchange and taskRequirementRewardFees on that volume (all Taker)Reward as a share of fees

Bybit referral taskCumulative 10,000 USD within 30 days of the first trade100 USDT10,000 × 0.055% = 5.5 USDTReward is higher than the fees

Rate sources: WEEX VIP 0 futures Maker 0.02% and Taker 0.08% (WEEX fee adjustment notice), Pionex futures market orders 0.05% (Pionex trading fee overview), Bybit VIP 0 perpetual futures Taker 0.055% (Bybit Trading Fee Structure, updated 2026-09-02), all viewed on 2026-10-21. Futures fees are calculated on position value, not on margin; for the method, see how futures fees are calculated.

The higher the WEEX volume threshold, the smaller the reward is as a share of fees; the top tier equals only about 1% of the fees. Pionex is a different case: the principal of the interest-earning bonus is taken back at expiry, and Pionex only guarantees an annualized yield of no less than 0.01% (Pionex interest-earning bonus guide). At that floor, 250 USDT held for 7 days earns 250 × 0.01% × 7 ÷ 365 ≈ 0.0005 USDT; actual earnings move with the market, and the actual annualized yield is not stated officially. Bybit’s referral tasks have a low threshold, but rewards are issued first come, first served each day, with a monthly total.

Opening futures positions just to hit volume targets carries a bigger risk than the fees. Futures use leverage: if the market moves against you, your position may be forcibly liquidated and you may lose your entire margin.

What is the difference between trial funds and deduction vouchers?

Neither can be withdrawn; the difference is what they are for. A deduction voucher (or rebate voucher) deals only with fees: it is deducted when the trade fills, or a percentage is refunded afterward, and once the allowance is used up or expires, it is gone. Trial funds (also called a bonus or trading bonus) can be used as futures margin and are also used to pay fees, funding fees and losses; profit made with them can mostly be withdrawn.

The most common misunderstanding about trial funds is that they absorb all your losses. XT and Pionex both state that losses, fees and funding fees are shared between the trial funds and your own funds according to the deduction ratio set by the campaign. XT’s official example: with 30 USDT of trial funds and a 30% deduction ratio, a 100 USDT loss on closing a position takes only 27 USDT from the trial funds (the balance is under 30), and the other 73 USDT comes from your own funds (XT futures trial fund rules). So when you open a position with trial funds, your own margin can still be lost.

Another common reason trial funds lapse is transfers. MEXC, WEEX and Ourbit state that moving assets out of the futures account before the trial funds are used up resets them to zero; XT states that withdrawing any coin, or moving USDT out of the futures account, voids the trial funds; and once a Pionex trading bonus is taken back, open positions keep running, and all later fees, funding fees and losses come out of your own funds.

Which matters more: the new-user bonus or the referral code rebate?

A new-user bonus is one-off, while a referral code rebate refunds a percentage of every fee. If you trade for a few weeks and stop, the new-user bonus carries more weight; if you keep trading for several months or more, the rebate usually overtakes the new-user voucher. The worked example below shows this; all numbers are assumptions, not a recommended trading volume.

Worked example: 100,000 USDT of notional futures volume a month, all market orders, Taker 0.05% (the VIP 0 futures rate at Binance, OKX and Gate, checked 2026-10-17). Monthly fees are 100,000 × 0.05% = 50 USDT, or 150 USDT over three months. Also assume you get a futures fee rebate voucher with a 100 USDT face value, a 50% ratio and a 30-day validity. The ratio and face value come from the official example in the Ourbit deduction credit guide; the validity is an assumption, and every voucher differs in practice.

Formula source: this article’s assumptions; for the fee rate sources, see how much a referral code rebate saves in a year.

You don’t have to choose one or the other, but getting both works out differently at different exchanges. At Binance and Gate, the referral commission is taken out first and the voucher then refunds the remaining fees, so you get both in full. OKX, MEXC, BingX and others state that fees covered by a voucher earn no rebate, so for every 1 USDT a voucher covers, you actually save an extra 1 × (1 − r) USDT: the voucher above refunds 25 USDT, but the real extra saving is 25 × (1 − r).

Below, using the current automatic fee rebate from the exchange for this site’s referral codes, is how much the same volume gets back each month; multiply by 3 for three months. Rates sync with the exchanges daily, and an exchange is not shown while its promotion is paused.

Bybit has no fee rebate from the exchange for invitees. To get part of your fees back, you need a rebate site such as Fee Otter. This extra rebate is paid by Fee Otter, not by the exchange and not by Kevin Wu, and the rate is whatever Fee Otter’s page shows. Bybit’s commission base already excludes Bonus and Coupons, so fees paid with a new-user bonus do not earn this rebate either. For the steps, see Bybit fee rebate (Fee Otter). Below is a screenshot of my own Fee Otter dashboard:

What are the common pitfalls when claiming a new-user bonus?

  • Moving funds out too soon after depositing: Pionex’s first-deposit task requires that the funds not be moved out for 2 days, including selling crypto for fiat, on-chain withdrawals and transfers to the Pionex card; MEXC’s deposit tasks require net deposits to stay above the threshold during the holding period, or the task does not count as completed.
  • Cumulative trades not counting: OKX trading tasks require a single trade to reach the amount, and several trades added together do not count; zero-fee stablecoin pairs and Convert do not count either. MEXC counts only futures trades with fees above 0, and Bybit’s trading volume excludes zero-fee trading pairs.
  • Bot trades not counting: Pionex futures tasks count only manual futures trades, and bot trades do not count toward any new-user task; the spot grid task, on the other hand, requires the bot to be held for more than 7 days.
  • Forgetting to claim manually: Bitget gives you only 2 days to claim after the observation period ends; Bybit referral rewards must be claimed within 10 days of being issued; random rewards from OKX’s invite campaign must be claimed in the app within 30 days of completing the task.
  • Deposit channels that do not count: OKX states that deposits through unofficial channels such as internal transfers, red packets, digital asset gifts and campaign airdrops do not count toward tasks; Pionex and Bybit also exclude internal transfers.
  • Multiple accounts: KuCoin states that duplicate accounts, the same IP or the same device may mean you do not receive rewards; OKX states that registering multiple accounts, signing up with someone else’s information or wash trading will all disqualify you from rewards. For the rules exchanges use to claw back rebates, see rebate cancellation rules.
  • “New-user bonuses” that require a transfer first: at all 13 exchanges I checked, new-user rewards are claimed in the account’s rewards center, task center or campaign center, and you never need to send coins to any individual. For “rewards” that ask you to message someone or transfer funds first, see rebate scam warning signs.

FAQ

Can you withdraw an exchange new-user bonus directly?

Mostly no. New-user bonuses are mostly deduction vouchers, trial funds or interest-earning bonuses, which cannot be withdrawn themselves. What you can usually withdraw is profit made trading with trial funds, fees a voucher has already refunded to your account, and the few rewards marked as withdrawable, such as Bybit Airdrops and KuCoin USDT rewards that have reached the withdrawal threshold. OKX new-user rewards also have a lock-up period after they are credited, during which they cannot be withdrawn or traded.

Is “free USDT just for signing up” real?

Some exchanges do reward the sign-up task, but you usually have to complete a deposit or identity verification before you can claim it, and it is often issued as coupons or an interest-earning bonus. For example, Gate’s sign-up task is marked 50 USDT, issued as a coupon; Pionex’s sign-up task is 10 USDT, but it cannot be claimed until your cumulative deposits reach 50 USDT, and what you receive is an interest-earning bonus whose principal is taken back after 7 days.

If I lose money trading with trial funds, do I have to make it up?

You don’t have to top up the trial funds once they are used up, but losses are usually deducted from the trial funds and your own funds together in proportion, so your own principal takes losses too. In XT’s example, with a 30% deduction ratio, a 100 USDT loss takes 27 USDT from the trial funds and 73 USDT from your own funds; Pionex’s trading bonus also splits fees, funding fees and losses according to the campaign’s deduction ratio.

If I sign up with a referral code, can I still get the new-user bonus?

At most exchanges, yes; they are separate programs. OKX states that users who sign up with an invite code join the New User Bonus Program automatically, and HTX’s new user guide of 2024-09-29 states that the newcomer gift package is available whatever way you signed up. Exceptions depend on the terms: Binance states that users who signed up through Lite Referral cannot take part in the newcomer tasks, and one KuCoin new-user campaign on 2026-03-13 stated that users invited by promotion partners cannot take part.

New-user bonus or referral code rebate: which is worth more?

If you only trade for a few weeks, the new-user bonus matters more; if you keep trading for several months or more, the referral code rebate is usually larger. Take 100,000 USDT of futures a month at a 0.05% Taker rate: a voucher with a 100 USDT face value, a 50% ratio and a 30-day validity refunds only 25 USDT, so a rebate rate above 16.7% catches up within three months, and over a year you need only about 4.2%. You can get both, but at most exchanges fees covered by a voucher earn no rebate.

I finished the new-user tasks. Why haven’t I received the reward?

The most common reasons are a hidden shared threshold you have not reached yet, or a reward that is still under review. All Pionex new-user tasks require a cumulative deposit of 50 USDT before you can claim; Bybit updates task status within 3 days of completion, and referral rewards go through a 3-day risk control review; MEXC review takes up to 7 calendar days; OKX states that you can contact customer support if nothing has arrived 48 hours after completing a task. Also, Bybit referral rewards have a monthly total, and once it is used up, there is nothing left.

If I add a referral code after signing up, does it affect the new-user bonus?

None of the new-user bonus guides I checked mention any effect of adding a referral code later. What to watch is that the deposits and trades you make for the new-user tasks may cost you the right to add a referral code afterward. Binance lets you bind one yourself only within 30 days of sign-up and before any deposit or trade; Pionex allows it within 14 days of sign-up (or within 3 days if you have placed a trade); OKX does not allow adding one after the account is created. If you want both, enter the referral code first, then do the new-user tasks. Each exchange’s rules are in can you add a referral code after signing up.

Every exchange’s referral code and automatic rebate is listed in the exchange referral code overview; for the full rules on vouchers and rebates, see fee vouchers vs referral code rebates; for how much you can save in a year, see how much a referral code rebate saves in a year; and for how referral codes themselves work, see what is a referral code. In Taiwan, MAX and BitoPro take New Taiwan dollar (TWD) deposits and have their own referral code offers.
