Is Ourbit Safe? Is It a Scam? Proof of Reserves Status, Zero Spot Fees and Restricted Countries (2026)

Updated Rules checked 2026-10-13

Whether Ourbit is safe can only be judged from its public record. By the source standard I use, as of 2026-10-12 there are no public reports of Ourbit being hacked, halting withdrawals for a long period or receiving major regulatory penalties. Transparency is its weakest point: Ourbit is the only one of the 13 exchanges this site covers that hasn’t published proof of reserves (PoR), and I found no officially published protection fund either.

Auto fee rebate (fee discount)50%

On fees, Ourbit is the only one of the 13 exchanges that charges no spot fees at all, with 0% for both Maker and Taker. Its standard USDT perpetual futures rates are 0.02% Maker and 0.04% Taker, although Ourbit’s Taiwan VIP fee notice lists the futures Taker fee for Taiwan VIP 0 as 0.05%. If you use it from Taiwan, note that Ourbit is not on the anti-money laundering (AML) registration list of Taiwan’s Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC), so if something goes wrong you can’t turn to Taiwan’s investor protection mechanisms.

This article doesn’t give star ratings. It collects fees, referral rebates, reserves, the safety record, restricted regions and products in one place, with a source for every number. For sign-up steps and the referral code, see Ourbit referral code.

Key points: Since 2024-09-03, every Ourbit spot pair has been 0% Maker and 0% Taker, so there is no spot rebate; referral rebates come only from futures and DEX trades. Ourbit’s standard USDT perpetual futures rates are 0.02% Maker and 0.04% Taker, and its 2025-04-23 fee notice for Taiwan VIP users lists the futures Taker fee for Taiwan VIP 0 as 0.05%. Ourbit hasn’t published proof of reserves, and the proof-of-reserves path on its website returned a 404 when checked on 2026-10-12. By this site’s source standard, as of 2026-10-12 there are no public reports of Ourbit being hacked, halting withdrawals for a long period or receiving major regulatory penalties. As of the list updated by Taiwan’s Securities and Futures Bureau (SFB) on 2026-09-29, Ourbit is not on the FSC’s AML registration list.

The data below was checked against official pages on 2026-10-13 (the data check date) and is provided for reference.

What are Ourbit’s fees?

The table shows the official VIP 0 rates. Ourbit’s spot trading is completely free, and on futures the Maker fee is half the Taker fee:

Fees checked on 2026-10-11. Whether a Taiwanese account actually pays 0.04% or 0.05% is best checked by logging in to the Ourbit fee page and looking at “Your exclusive rates”. The zero spot fee announcement describes it as a “promotional campaign”, with Ourbit reserving the right of final interpretation; an Ourbit Academy article from 2026-08, however, describes it as a standing rate (Ourbit zero-fee spot trading explained).

In amounts: with 100,000 USDT of spot volume a month, Ourbit costs 0, most exchanges at 0.1% cost 100 USDT, and XT and HTX at 0.2% cost 200 USDT. With 300,000 USDT of futures volume a month, all taker orders cost 300,000 × 0.04% = 120 USDT, or 150 USDT at Taiwan’s 0.05%, and all maker orders cost 60 USDT. Across all 13 exchanges, a 0.04% futures Taker fee is higher only than MEXC’s 0.02% (lowest-fee crypto exchanges).

Futures fees are charged on position value. Opening a 10x position with 1,000 USDT of margin gives a 10,000 USDT position, and the Taker fee to open and close is 8 USDT, or 10 USDT at Taiwan’s 0.05% rate. Ourbit allows up to 500x on BTC/USDT; with leverage, if the market moves against you, the position may be forcibly liquidated. The full fee schedule is in Ourbit fees explained. To work out trading fees and funding fees together, use the perpetual futures cost calculator.

How much is the Ourbit referral rebate, and has it changed?

Ourbit spot is currently fee-free, so there is no spot rebate; referral rebates come only from futures and DEX trades. The Ourbit referral page puts it this way: direct clients who register through an invite link get “spot trading fees fully waived, with futures & DEX rebate rates freely allocated”.

Sign up to Ourbit with a referral code and the exchange’s automatic fee rebate on futures and DEX fees is currently 50%. It is paid the day after you trade, at about 09:00 (UTC+8) for futures, in the coin the fee was paid in, and recorded under “Self-rebate history” on the referral page. The chart and table below record changes to this rate and sync with the exchange’s settings every day.

  • 50% (tracking started)

Rates sync with the exchange daily; every change is recorded automatically.

The rebate is calculated on the fees you actually pay, minus any part covered by trial funds or deduction credits. These trades earn no rebate: all spot trades, futures trades during zero-fee promotions, fees covered by deduction credits or trial funds, margin trading, and fees generated by one person self-referring with multiple accounts; self-referral voids the referral and all commissions. The futures fee deduction credits that new users often receive don’t count toward rebates for the part they cover (Ourbit guide to futures fee deduction credits).

Accounts not yet bound to a referrer can add one later on the referral page, and it can’t be changed once bound. The code and sign-up steps are in Ourbit referral code, and how to add one later is in how to rebind an Ourbit referral code.

Does Ourbit have proof of reserves?

No. When checked on 2026-10-12, the proof-of-reserves path on Ourbit’s website returned a 404, and I found no proof of reserves for it in search results either. As for a protection fund, I likewise found no officially published information.

ItemOurbitAcross the 13 exchanges

Latest reserve ratioNone7 have figures from September 2026 or later that can be read
Merkle tree self-verificationNone11 offer it
Protection fundNone foundBinance, Bitget and MEXC publish a size; WEEX’s website claims 1,000 BTC

Without PoR, there’s no figure at all to check whether “users’ coins are there”. PoR has its own limits: it only reflects the moment of the snapshot and doesn’t include company liabilities, but it is at least a minimum level of transparency. For a comparison across exchanges, see exchange proof of reserves compared.

Has Ourbit had any security or withdrawal incidents?

By the source standard I use (official exchange announcements first, then The Block, CoinDesk, Bloomberg, the US Department of Justice and regulators’ announcements), as of 2026-10-12 I found no public reports of Ourbit in any of these three categories of major incident:

  • Platform wallet theft: none found.
  • Long withdrawal halts: none found.
  • Major regulatory penalties: none found.

“None found” means nothing turned up under the standard above; it doesn’t mean nothing has ever happened. For comparison, 7 of the 13 exchanges this site covers have had platform wallets drained, 8 incidents in total. For the full records, see exchange safety records.

Which countries can’t use Ourbit?

Under item 1 of “PROHIBITED COUNTRIES” in the Ourbit user agreement (updated 2026-05-30), the regions without service are the United States, China, Singapore, North Korea, Cuba, Iran, Sudan, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Austria, Portugal, the Canadian province of Ontario, and Russian-controlled regions of Ukraine (currently including Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk). The terms say “China” and don’t list Hong Kong separately.

The agreement also states that if users misrepresent their location or residence, Ourbit can immediately terminate the account and close positions, and that users must notify the platform if they become residents of a restricted region. Among the 13 exchanges, Ourbit’s list, like Binance’s, marks only 2 of the 16 regions this site compares as unserved (the United States and Singapore), and it also restricts the Canadian province of Ontario and some EU countries. For the table, see exchange restricted countries.

What products does Ourbit offer?

According to its official help pages, Ourbit currently offers:

  • Spot: all 883 pairs have zero fees, including pairs quoted in USDT, USDC, USD1 and USDG and tokenized stocks. Market orders still face bid-ask spreads and slippage, and order books for small coins are thinner.
  • USDT perpetual futures: 753 contracts, with no coin-margined futures. Funding fees are paid between longs and shorts, and Ourbit takes none. Ourbit says they settle every 8 hours by default, but 2026-10-11 data shows 454 contracts settling every 4 hours and 296 every 8 hours, with BTC/USDT and ETH/USDT on 8 hours (Ourbit funding rate mechanism; see what is the funding rate).
  • DEX zone: a service fee is charged on the trade amount, plus on-chain gas; the service fee rate is shown on the order page, and Ourbit doesn’t publish a fixed figure (Ourbit DEX). DEX trades also earn referral rebates.
  • Simple Earn: spot Simple Earn pays 5% APR on the first 1,000 USDT, 3% from 1,000 to 50,000 USDT and 0.5% above 50,000, with no lock-up. Calculated across the tiers for the whole balance, that’s about 5.00% on 1,000 USDT, about 3.20% on 10,000 USDT and about 3.04% on 50,000 USDT (Ourbit Simple Earn, 2026-10-13 snapshot). Futures Simple Earn has a base APR of 3%, with the principal sharing margin with your futures positions, so leveraged positions may be forcibly liquidated. For a comparison, see USDT flexible savings rates compared.
  • VIP+ fast track: if you’re already a VIP on Binance, OKX, Bybit or similar exchanges, you can upload proof from the last 30 days and, once approved, get a 30-day Ourbit VIP trial (Ourbit VIP page).

Swap, P2P and buying crypto by credit card aren’t listed here, because I couldn’t find fee information for them in Ourbit’s announcements or help center.

What should users in Taiwan watch out for with Ourbit?

FSC registration: as of the list of “businesses and persons providing virtual asset services” updated by the SFB on 2026-09-29, Ourbit is not on the FSC’s AML registration list. When the FSC commented on the FTX collapse, it pointed out that offshore trading platforms are not covered by the dispute-handling mechanisms of the Securities and Futures Investors Protection Center or the Financial Ombudsman Institution.

Futures fees for Taiwanese accounts: Ourbit’s 2025-04-23 fee notice for Taiwan VIP users lists the futures Taker fee for Taiwan VIP 0 as 0.05%, higher than the standard 0.04%; VIP 1 requires 5 million USDT of monthly futures volume or 30,000 in total assets. Ourbit’s VIP page also notes that rates vary by region and that your actual trade records are what count.

Moving New Taiwan dollars (TWD) in and out: I couldn’t find any information on TWD deposits, withdrawals or P2P in Ourbit’s announcements or help center. A common approach for users in Taiwan is to buy USDT with TWD on MAX or BitoPro, transfer it on-chain to Ourbit (crypto deposits to Ourbit are free), and reverse the steps to cash out. Based on official fees as of 2026-10-12:

RouteSuggested networkFee
Ourbit → MAXBEP200.01 USDT
Ourbit → BitoProBEP200.01 USDT
Ourbit withdrawal via TRC20TRC201.5 USDT
Ourbit withdrawal via ERC20ERC200.2 USDT
MAX → OurbitAvalanche C-ChainMAX withdrawal fee 0

The minimum withdrawal from Ourbit over BEP20 is 10 USDT, and fees change, so check the Ourbit fee page before withdrawing. For the same USDT withdrawal, TRC20 costs 1.49 USDT more than BEP20, which adds up to nearly 15 USDT over 10 withdrawals. For full fees at every exchange, see USDT withdrawal fees compared; the two Taiwanese exchanges, MAX and BitoPro, have referral code guides on the Traditional Chinese version of this site.

Official channels: the official domain is ourbit.com; the developer on the Taiwan App Store is Ourbit Holdings Ltd (checked 2026-10-15), and on Google Play it is Ourbit (checked 2026-10-12). Suspicious URLs, emails, phone numbers or social media accounts can be checked through Ourbit’s official verification channel. Impersonation tactics are covered in crypto exchange scam types.

Who is Ourbit a good fit for?

Judging by fees and products, Ourbit fits these uses best:

  • People who trade spot or swap coins often: of the 13 exchanges, only Ourbit has zero spot fees, so 100,000 USDT of monthly spot volume saves 100 USDT compared with an exchange charging 0.1%. Converting USDT into another coin with a spot limit order on Ourbit is also fee-free.
  • Futures traders who mostly use taker orders at modest volume: the standard 0.04% Taker fee is the second lowest of the 13 exchanges; if a Taiwanese account pays 0.05%, it’s in the same tier as Binance and OKX.
  • Small flexible savings balances: 1,000 USDT as a whole earns about 5.00%, and 10,000 USDT about 3.20% (2026-10-13).

Where it fits less well: if reserve transparency matters to you, Ourbit currently has no PoR at all. If you need to deposit TWD directly on the platform, I found no official information on it. If your futures positions often run past settlement times, note that most small coins settle every 4 hours, 6 times a day.

FAQ

Is Ourbit safe?

No exchange can guarantee safety. By this site’s source standard, as of 2026-10-12 there are no public reports of Ourbit being hacked, halting withdrawals for a long period or receiving major regulatory penalties. But it is the only one of the 13 exchanges that hasn’t published proof of reserves, and I found no officially published protection fund. Ourbit is also not on the AML registration list of Taiwan’s FSC.

Is Ourbit a scam?

Ourbit itself is not a scam; it is an exchange in actual operation: the official site is ourbit.com, its user agreement states that the operating company is Ourbit Holdings Ltd., registered in the British Virgin Islands (Ourbit user agreement), and the developer on the Taiwan App Store is also Ourbit Holdings Ltd. What people online call a “Ourbit scam” is usually a fake website, fake app, fake customer support or fake investment group using Ourbit’s name. The usual demands are to add someone on LINE, to transfer USDT to a “platform” outside the exchange, or to pay an “unfreezing fee” or “security deposit” before you can withdraw. Suspicious URLs, emails, phone numbers or social media accounts can be checked through Ourbit’s official verification channel. Not being a scam doesn’t mean there’s no risk: Ourbit is the only one of the 13 exchanges this site covers that hasn’t published proof of reserves, and it is not on the FSC’s AML registration list either, so any dispute can only be handled under the platform’s terms. Impersonation tactics are covered in crypto exchange scam types, and rebate-related scams in rebate scam warning signs.

Does Ourbit have proof of reserves?

No. When checked on 2026-10-12, the proof-of-reserves path on Ourbit’s website returned a 404, and nothing turned up in search results. Of the 13 exchanges, the other 12 all have a PoR page or report.

Could Ourbit go under?

Nobody can predict that, and because Ourbit hasn’t published proof of reserves, users have no figures to check whether the platform’s assets are sufficient. If it ever collapsed, you would have to go through proceedings where the platform is based; Taiwan’s Securities and Futures Investors Protection Center can’t help. A more conservative approach is not to keep all your assets on one exchange.

Can I use Ourbit in Taiwan?

Taiwan isn’t on the prohibited countries list in Ourbit’s user agreement, and Ourbit has issued a fee notice for Taiwan VIP users. But that doesn’t mean Taiwan’s regulators have approved it: Ourbit is not on the FSC’s AML registration list (2026-09-29 version).

Can I withdraw from Ourbit to a Taiwanese bank account?

I couldn’t find any information on TWD withdrawals in Ourbit’s announcements or help center. The common approach is to transfer USDT to MAX or BitoPro and convert it to TWD under that platform’s rules; withdrawing from Ourbit over BEP20 costs 0.01 USDT (2026-10-12).

Is Ourbit spot really fee-free? Is there a rebate?

Yes. Since 2024-09-03, every spot pair has been 0% Maker and 0% Taker, with no need to hold a platform token and no volume threshold. Because there’s no fee, there’s also no spot rebate; Ourbit’s referral rebates come only from futures and DEX trades.

Why is my Ourbit futures Taker fee 0.05%?

The fee table for Taiwan VIP users that Ourbit published on 2025-04-23 lists the futures Taker fee for Taiwan VIP 0 as 0.05%, while the standard rate is 0.04%. Ourbit’s VIP page notes that rates vary by region; your own rate is whatever “Your exclusive rates” shows on the fee page after you log in.

Can I add an Ourbit referral code later?

Yes. Accounts not yet bound to a referrer can add one on the referral page, and it can’t be changed once bound. For how to do it, see how to rebind an Ourbit referral code; for how the rules compare across exchanges, see can you add a referral code after signing up.

The Ourbit referral code and sign-up steps are in Ourbit referral code, and the full fee schedule is in Ourbit fees explained. For when rebates can be canceled, see can rebates be canceled, and for each exchange’s actual fees after the rebate, see actual fees after referral rebates. The difference between maker and taker orders is explained in Maker vs Taker fees, and referral codes for other exchanges are collected in crypto exchange referral codes.
