BTCC KYC Verification: Sign-Up, Documents, Review Time, Fixes (2026)

Updated Rules checked 2026-10-19

Signing up for BTCC only takes an email address or phone number plus a password, and you can also register with a Google, Apple, Telegram or LINE account. The form has an optional referral code field. KYC (identity verification) comes after sign-up and has two levels: identity document verification first (a photo of the front of your ID), then facial verification (a selfie). BTCC says the review takes a few seconds; if it takes longer than 5 minutes, you can contact Live Chat.

The BTCC Help Center “strongly recommends” completing identity verification but does not make it a condition for trading: live trading and market data are not restricted by verification level. The difference is in funding. An unverified account cannot deposit fiat and has a daily withdrawal limit of 10,000 USDT; this rises to 100,000 USDT after identity document verification and to 1,000,000 USDT after facial verification.

Following the BTCC Help Center, this guide covers the sign-up form and steps, KYC levels and limits, documents, review time, how to verify again after a failure, and 2FA and regional restrictions after sign-up. Interface labels follow the wording in BTCC’s guides.

Key points:
1. The BTCC web sign-up form has two tabs, email and phone. The fields are email address (or phone number), password, and an expandable “Referral code (optional)” field. The BTCC Help Center does not describe any way to add a referral code after sign-up.
2. BTCC identity verification has two levels: identity document verification and facial verification. You must pass the first before you can do facial verification.
3. According to BTCC’s official benefits table, an unverified account can withdraw 10,000 USDT a day and cannot deposit fiat; after identity document verification the limit is 100,000 USDT with cumulative fiat deposits of 2,000 USDT; after facial verification it is 1,000,000 USDT with no limit on fiat deposits.
4. Accepted documents are a passport, national ID card, driver’s license or residence permit that is still valid. One identity can verify only one BTCC account, and users under 18 cannot complete individual identity verification.
5. BTCC says the review takes a few seconds, and its FAQ says it is completed within 5 minutes, with the result sent as an in-app notification. If you are rejected, check the reason in the notification first, fix it and submit again.

The information below was checked against official pages on 2026-10-19 (fact-check date) and is provided for reference.

What fields are on the BTCC sign-up form?

BTCC’s sign-up page comes in two versions with nearly the same fields and different button text. The table below is based on the screenshots in two official guides: the web version comes from “How to Register or Login to BTCC With a Third-Party Account?” (updated 2026-08-18), and the app version from “How to Register a BTCC Account?” (updated 2025-07-02).

Sources: BTCC, “How to Register a BTCC Account?” and BTCC, “How to Register or Login to BTCC With a Third-Party Account?”, checked 2026-10-19. BTCC states that each email address or phone number can register only one BTCC account, and that third-party login options “may vary depending on your region, device, operating system or app version”; go by what the page actually shows.

Signing up on the web

  1. Type the address of the official BTCC website (btcc.com) by hand and click “Register” at the top of the page.
  2. On the “Create account” page, choose the email or phone tab, enter your email address or phone number, then set a password.
  3. If you have a referral code, click “Referral code (optional)” to open the input box and enter it; if not, skip this step.
  4. Click “Register now” and complete the verification the page asks for. If the email verification code does not arrive, BTCC suggests checking your spam folder, confirming the email address, and then requesting a new code.

Signing up in the app

  1. Open the BTCC app and tap “Login” on the home page to reach the login and sign-up page.
  2. Choose the email or phone tab. If you use a phone number, select the matching country code first.
  3. Enter your email address or phone number and set a password. If you have a referral code, tap “Referral code” to expand the field and enter it at the same time.
  4. Tap “Next” and follow the prompts to finish signing up. If the SMS code does not arrive, BTCC lists these fixes: clear the cache and request a new code, remove or add the “0” before your phone number, or remove the country code (for Taiwan numbers, remove “886”).

Signing up with Google, Apple, Telegram or LINE

Choose a third-party account at the bottom of the sign-up page, log in and authorize it, then return to BTCC to confirm your details, complete security verification, or link an email address or phone number. BTCC states: “If you have a referral code, make sure it is entered correctly before authorizing your third-party account.” Users in Taiwan can sign up directly with LINE or Google, and the system creates the BTCC account with the email address linked to that account. Afterwards, log in with the same third-party account; otherwise you may end up in a different account or create a new one.

Do you have to enter a referral code at sign-up? Can you add one later?

You have to enter it at sign-up. BTCC’s “How to Register a BTCC Account?” states: “Friends must open their account through the referrer’s referral link or referral code; otherwise it does not count as a valid referral.” I went through every article in the “Registration and Login” category of the BTCC Help Center and the Referral Trading Rebate FAQ and found no process for adding or changing a referral code after sign-up. The rebate FAQ also says that if an invited user did not sign up through the invitation, they will not appear in the trading rebate data.

The field is marked “optional”, so you can sign up without it. If you want to use a referral code, fill it in before you press “Register now”, “Next” or authorize a third-party account. Whether each exchange lets you add a code afterwards is covered in Can you add a referral code after signing up?; to see what your account is linked to, read how to check whether your referral code is linked.

What are the BTCC KYC levels and limits?

BTCC identity verification has two levels, in this order: “identity document verification” and “facial verification”. You cannot skip the first level and go straight to facial verification. The table below is the benefits table in “What Is KYC Verification and How Do I Complete It?” (the article shows an update date of 2025-5-8):

BenefitNo KYCIdentity document verification passedFacial verification passed

Source: BTCC, “What Is KYC Verification and How Do I Complete It?”; the benefits table is an image in the article. Checked 2026-10-19. Another article, “Why Do I Need to Complete KYC?” (created 2026-06-16), also states that unverified users cannot use fiat deposits and have a restricted daily withdrawal limit.

Here is what the numbers in the table mean in practice. Say you want to withdraw 35,000 USDT to an external wallet: an unverified account can withdraw at most 10,000 USDT a day, so it takes 4 days (10,000 × 3 = 30,000, then 5,000 on day 4). After identity document verification, the daily limit of 100,000 USDT covers it in one day. The gap for fiat deposits is even bigger: with only identity document verification, cumulative fiat deposits are capped at 2,000 USDT, so if you plan to deposit more than that in fiat, you need to complete facial verification as well.

A note on withdrawals: the title of BTCC’s fiat withdrawal guide is now marked “Suspended”, and the text says “this withdrawal method is not supported at the moment”. According to that guide, using it requires completed KYC and a linked bank account (BTCC, “How to Withdraw Fiat”, suspended). How crypto withdrawal rules differ from other exchanges is covered in deposit and withdrawal terms explained.

What documents do you need for KYC? Can you use a Taiwan ID card?

  • ID document: a passport, national ID card, driver’s license or residence permit (“What Is KYC Verification and How Do I Complete It?” says “permanent residence permit”). It must still be valid and the details must be clear and readable. BTCC also states that document formats vary by country, and the document types actually supported are those shown on the verification page.
  • Document photo: in the app, you take a photo of the front of your document and upload it. The photo must not cut off any corners and must not have glare or blur.
  • Selfie: you must point the camera at a real person, not photograph a photo, and the selfie must match the person on the document.
  • Age: “Why Do I Need to Complete KYC?” states that users under 18 cannot complete individual identity verification. BTCC’s Terms of Use also require individual users to be at least 18, or of the legal age to enter a contract where they live.

As for Taiwan documents, BTCC’s KYC guide uses Taiwan as its example: “Select the issuing country/region and document type of your ID (using Taiwan as an example).” In the attached app screenshot, choosing Taiwan as the issuing country lists four document types: driver’s license, residence permit, ID card and passport. The official guides I found do not mention proof of address or proof of funds; BTCC’s Terms of Use do reserve the right to request additional information and carry out enhanced due diligence (clause 4.3).

How do you complete KYC in the BTCC app?

The KYC tutorial in the BTCC Help Center only covers the app; the web verification steps are not stated officially. The steps below follow the Traditional Chinese version of “What Is KYC Verification and How Do I Complete It?” and its screenshots.

Level 1: Identity document verification

  1. After logging in, tap “Verify now” on the BTCC app home page, or tap the icon in the top right corner to open the identity verification page.
  2. First complete the “Risk Assessment and Test”. The screenshot says “As required by regulators, you need to answer all of the following questions correctly”. The questions are true/false items about USDT-margined futures and leverage, for example that holding a BTC futures position does not mean you own actual BTC. When you finish, tap “Continue identity verification”. If a leveraged futures position loses money, it may be forcibly liquidated and you lose the margin you put in.
  3. Choose your country of residence. The options in the screenshot are “All countries except the United States” and “United States”. A note below says that pressing Continue means you have read the privacy notice and agree to have your personal data processed under the consent form; the bottom of the screen says “Powered by Sumsub”. Tap “Continue”.
  4. Choose the issuing country/region and document type, then take a photo of the front of your document and upload it. If you cannot find your document type or issuing country, the page tells you to contact customer support.
  5. Submit and wait for the result. The English version of the guide says the status shows “Verifying ID” during review, and when it changes to “Facial verification not completed”, the first level is done.

Level 2: Facial verification

  1. On the facial verification page, tap “Continue” to start the selfie, line your face up with the frame and follow the on-screen instructions.
  2. When you finish, the page shows “Facial verification in progress”, and you can tap “Got it” to return to your account page.
  3. When the identity verification status shows “Verified”, facial verification has succeeded, and you can see that level’s benefits on the same page.

If the verification page stays grayed out or stuck on the loading screen: on 2026-08-14 BTCC published an English announcement, “Identity Verification Entry Now Available”, explaining that because of a temporary issue it had added a temporary verification entry in the app (BTCC announcement). Following the official guidance, if you get stuck, first retry from the entry in the app, and if that still does not work, contact Live Chat.

How long does BTCC KYC review take?

BTCC words it two ways, and they point the same direction. “What Is KYC Verification and How Do I Complete It?” says “identity document verification and facial verification each take only a few seconds”, and to contact Live Chat if you wait longer than 5 minutes. “Why Do I Need to Complete KYC?” says “under normal circumstances, identity verification is reviewed within 5 minutes of submission”, with the result sent as an in-app notification. The Sumsub verification screen says it “takes only about 1 minute”. If you have no result after 5 minutes, you can ask through Live Chat in the top right corner of the app home page or the bottom right corner of the website.

Why does KYC fail, and how do you verify again?

BTCC lists failure reasons for each of the two levels. I put BTCC’s wording and the matching fixes into one table:

StageFailure reasons listed by BTCCWhat to do
Identity document verificationThe system detects that the same information has already been used for review; one identity can verify only one BTCC accountA “duplicate registration / duplicate verification” message means this identity has already been verified on another account; if you have forgotten the original account, Live Chat can verify your identity and help you recover it
Identity document verificationThe document is unclear, has cut-off corners or glare, or is not a valid document (including expired)Retake the photo with a valid original document, fully in frame and without glare
Facial verificationNot pointed at a real face; face blurry or covered; poor lightingMove somewhere well lit, put your face inside the frame and look straight at the camera
Facial verificationWearing a hat or glasses; using filters or effectsTake off your hat and glasses, and turn off camera filters and beauty effects
Facial verificationThe selfie does not match the submitted documentThe document holder must take the selfie in person; photographing a photo is not allowed

To verify again, BTCC says: first check the rejection reason in the in-app notification, fix the problem and resubmit, for example by uploading a clearer image of your document or providing a valid document. How many times you can retry is not stated officially. Two more limits to know in advance: once identity verification is complete, your identity information cannot be transferred to another account, and one person can complete individual identity verification for only 1 BTCC account.

What if the system reads your name wrong?

You can correct it yourself, but only once. The path is: icon in the top left corner of the app home page to open your account page → “Identity Verification” → on the identity verification page, tap the edit icon next to your name → enter the correct name exactly as on your document → confirm. BTCC states that “each user may change their name only once, and changing your name carelessly will affect your future rights on BTCC”, so check the name against your document letter by letter before you submit (BTCC, “How to Change the Name on the Identity Verification Page”).

How do you set up 2FA after signing up? Which actions pause withdrawals for 24 hours?

BTCC supports three types of security verification: phone number, email and Google Authenticator, and recommends linking all three. In the app, tap the profile icon in the top left corner of the home page → “Security Settings”. To link Google Authenticator, tap “Google Authenticator” → “I have installed the app” → “Copy the key” and back it up → enter the key manually in Google Authenticator → return to BTCC and enter the 6-digit code that refreshes every 30 seconds → “Complete”. Once it is linked, go back to Security Settings and turn on the “Withdrawal Verification” toggle for that method; withdrawals will then ask for the code (BTCC, “How to Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) on BTCC?”, updated 2026-08-18).

The actions below pause withdrawals once completed. Withdrawals resume automatically when the time is up, and BTCC states that the pause cannot be cancelled manually:

So set up 2FA before your first deposit, to avoid running into a 24-hour hold just when you want to withdraw. Security settings and lock periods on other exchanges are covered in exchange account security settings.

Which regions cannot sign up for or use BTCC?

The official BTCC pages I found do not give a full list of restricted countries. The Terms of Use page on the website (BTCC Terms of Use, dated 06/20/2022) sets out the principle: users must declare that they are not a sanctioned person or entity, do not reside in a sanctioned jurisdiction, and are not prohibited from using the services by applicable law. Clause 3.4 states that BTCC may decide at its own discretion which services it offers in which jurisdictions.

The only regional distinction visible in the KYC flow is the United States: the residence options are “All countries except the United States” and “United States”, and the English KYC guide also notes that fiat withdrawals are currently not supported for US users. Whether other countries can use BTCC, and which features they get, depends on what the sign-up and verification pages actually show. Restricted regions published by each exchange are listed in exchange restricted countries and regions.

Is KYC safe? Which scams should you watch for?

BTCC’s Terms of Use (clause 4.2) state that BTCC collects identity verification data for customer due diligence, identity verification and screening, and to detect financial crimes such as money laundering, terrorist financing and fraud, and that it keeps records for as long as the law requires or permits, including after the account is closed. The app screenshots show that the verification screens are provided by the third-party service Sumsub.

Of the tactics listed in BTCC’s “How to Guard Against Common Scams?”, these are the most relevant to KYC:

  • Phishing sites and fake apps: scammers send links with excuses such as an “account upgrade” or a “risk control alert”. BTCC recommends typing the address by hand rather than clicking search engine ads, and downloading the app only from the official website’s download page.
  • Fake customer support: BTCC states that it never messages users privately to ask for transfers, verification codes or private keys. Be wary of anyone claiming to be support who asks you to share your screen remotely or offers to “guide you through it”. KYC only needs your document and a selfie, never your password, verification codes or seed phrase.
  • Fake partners and fake groups: scammers pose as BTCC partners or official groups and run scams in the name of “airdrops” or “project launches”. If an email address, phone number, URL or social media account claims to be official, you can check it through BTCC’s official verification channel.

FAQ

Can you trade on BTCC without KYC?

Yes. BTCC states that live trading and market data are not restricted by verification level. The limits on an unverified account are on the funding side: no fiat deposits, a daily withdrawal limit of 10,000 USDT, and no access to some bonus events.

How long does BTCC KYC take?

BTCC says identity document verification and facial verification each take only a few seconds, and its FAQ says verification is completed within 5 minutes, with the result sent as an in-app notification. If you still have no result after more than 5 minutes, contact Live Chat.

Can you use a Taiwan ID card for BTCC KYC?

BTCC’s KYC tutorial uses Taiwan as its example. In the official screenshot, choosing Taiwan as the issuing country offers these document types: driver’s license, residence permit, ID card and passport. The document must be valid and its details clear; the types you can actually choose are those shown on the verification page.

If you skipped the BTCC referral code at sign-up, can you add it later?

The BTCC Help Center does not provide a process for adding a referral code after sign-up. BTCC’s sign-up guide states that the account must be opened through a referral link or referral code, otherwise it does not count as a valid referral; when signing up with a third-party account, you also need to fill in the referral code before authorizing.

How many BTCC accounts can one person open?

One identity can complete identity verification for only one BTCC account, and once verified, the identity information cannot be moved to another account. Each email address or phone number can also register only one BTCC account. If you use the same document to verify a second account, you will see a “duplicate registration / duplicate verification” message.

How do you verify again after KYC is rejected?

Check the rejection reason in your in-app notifications, fix it and resubmit. The most common causes are glare, cut-off corners or an expired document, and for the selfie, poor lighting, a hat or glasses, or a filter. How many times you can retry is not stated officially.

Can you change your name after passing KYC?

Yes, once. On the identity verification page, tap the edit icon next to your name, enter the name exactly as on your document and submit. BTCC states that each user can change their name only once.

Can you sign up for BTCC if you are under 18?

You cannot complete individual identity verification. BTCC’s KYC FAQ states that users under 18 cannot complete individual identity verification, and the Terms of Use also require individual users to be at least 18 or of the legal age to enter a contract where they live.
