Bitfinex referral code QPFyk4yqV: how the 6% funding fee rebate works (2026)

Updated Rules checked 2026-10-08

Since December 17, 2025, Bitfinex has charged no maker or taker fees on spot, margin or derivatives trading. So the 6% that comes with this Bitfinex referral code is not a trading fee rebate. It is a rebate on margin funding and Bitfinex Borrow fees, and it declines every month.

As of 2026-10-24, signing up for Bitfinex with referral code QPFyk4yqV gives a Margin funding and Borrow fee rebate (declining monthly) starting at 6%, paid by Bitfinex itself. Duration: Starts at 6%, falls 0.5% every 30 days and reaches zero after 12 periods (360 days).

This page sets out what Bitfinex’s official terms actually give someone who signs up with a referral code, compiled for reference. Many Bitfinex referral code posts still describe a “trading fee discount”; that is the old rule. Today the rebate covers the fee Bitfinex takes out of your interest when you lend your funds (margin funding). If you only trade spot or derivatives and never lend, the referral code gets you nothing back.

The rebate percentage starts counting the moment you open the account: it begins at 6%, falls second by second and reaches zero after 360 days. I ran the terms’ formula on an example: if you pay a fixed 15 USDt in funding fees every 30 days, you get 5.4 USDt back in the first year, or 3% of the fees. So if you want to use the code, start lending soon after you open the account. The code can also only be entered when you create the account; Bitfinex has no official process for adding one after sign-up.

Key points
Since December 17, 2025, Bitfinex has charged no maker or taker fees on spot, margin, derivatives, securities or OTC trading.
The rebate for invitees (Members) who use a Bitfinex referral code applies only to margin funding and Bitfinex Borrow fees, starting at 6%.
The percentage falls by 0.5% every 30 days and reaches zero after 12 periods, that is, 360 days after the account is opened.
Bitfinex charges a 15% fee on the interest earned from lending funds (18% for hidden offers), and the rebate is calculated on the fees actually collected.
Accounts opened after March 1, 2022 need Intermediate verification to use margin funding and Borrow.

The information below was checked against Bitfinex’s official pages on 2026-10-14 (fact-check date) and is provided for reference.

Are Bitfinex trading fees really zero?

Yes. The Bitfinex fee page lists zero maker and taker fees for spot and margin trades and for derivatives trades, and the help center says that from December 17, 2025 no maker or taker fees apply to spot, margin, derivatives, securities or OTC trading (Bitfinex fee page, what fees Bitfinex charges). Trading on Bitfinex therefore has no fee to rebate.

Free trading doesn’t mean Bitfinex charges nothing at all. The same fee article lists other charges: 0.1% for fiat wire deposits (minimum 60 USD or EUR), 0.1% for fiat wire withdrawals (minimum 100 USD or EUR) and 1% for express wire withdrawals (minimum 125 USD or EUR). Crypto deposits are free, and so are transfers to another Bitfinex user’s address; on-chain withdrawal fees depend on each coin’s withdrawal page. None of these fees fall within the referral rebate.

What is the 6% Bitfinex referral code rebate?

Bitfinex’s affiliate program terms call someone who signs up with a referral code a “Member”. Members get back part of the margin funding fees and Bitfinex Borrow fees their own account generates (Bitfinex affiliate program terms, updated 2025-12-10):

  • Margin funding means lending assets to margin traders for interest. Bitfinex charges lenders a fee on that interest income, currently 15% (18% for hidden offers).
  • Bitfinex Borrow is Bitfinex’s lending service; the fees generated when you borrow are included too.
  • Bitfinex sets the rebate percentage; affiliates can’t change it.

So the code only does anything if you use margin funding or Borrow. If you only trade spot or derivatives, the code gives you nothing back.

The fee page lists the two services’ charges separately, which shows who pays the fee (Bitfinex fee page):

ServiceBorrower (Funding Recipient)Lender (Funding Provider)Lender using hidden offers
Margin funding (Margin Funding)Pays interest to the lender; the fee page lists no separate fee15.0% of interest income18.0% of interest income
Bitfinex BorrowFunding Fee is 015% of the earnings from active loans18.0% of the earnings from active loans

The fee Bitfinex takes falls mainly on the side lending the funds. What the borrower pays is interest, and that interest goes to the lender; it isn’t a Bitfinex fee. The help center adds that when you borrow through Bitfinex Borrow, a maker fee is charged once when the loan is opened and once when it is repaid, on top of the loan interest; the maker fee is currently 0 (what fees Bitfinex charges).

Holding LEO lowers the lending fee: the fee page says by up to -5%, with a 0.05% reduction for every 10,000 USDt worth of LEO held in your exchange wallet (based on the previous month, calculated daily); LEO-Vaulta and LEO-ERC20 don’t count. The referral rebate is calculated on the fees “actually collected, excluding discounts”, so the more LEO knocks off your fee, the smaller the base for the rebate.

“Margin funding” and the “funding rate” on derivatives sound similar but are different things. The funding rate is a fee the long and short sides of a perpetual contract pay each other at set intervals, and the exchange takes no cut; margin funding is lending funds to leveraged traders for interest. How the funding rate is calculated is covered in what is the funding rate.

How does the Bitfinex referral code differ from other exchanges’ codes?

For the 13 exchanges this site covers, referral codes rebate trading fees (Bybit has no automatic exchange rebate on this site). Bitfinex is the exception, because its trading fees are already zero. The table below sets out what each exchange’s referral code rebates and for how long, based on each exchange’s official documentation (compiled by this site in October 2026); all fields are in the exchange referral rules dataset.

With other exchanges’ referral codes, any trading earns a rebate. The Bitfinex code only helps people who lend funds, and it lasts one year. If you mainly trade spot or derivatives, what you should compare is trading fees and rebate percentages; every exchange’s referral code and rate is in the exchange referral code overview.

How does the Bitfinex rebate percentage decline each month?

The terms say a Member’s rebate percentage starts at 6% and falls in a straight line, second by second, by 0.5% every 30 days, reaching zero after 12 periods:

After sign-upRebate percentage
Day 06%
Day 305.5%
Day 904.5%
Day 1803%
Day 2701.5%
Day 3600%

Two details affect how much you actually get. First, the clock starts at “the date and time the account is opened”, not when you first lend. Open an account, leave it for three months before lending, and the percentage is already down to 4.5%. Second, the percentage falls every second rather than stepping down every 30 days, so each period’s average is halfway between its start and end: period 1 (days 1 to 30) averages 5.75%, period 2 averages 5.25%, and so on, until period 12 averages only 0.25%.

The percentages themselves can change too. The terms say Bitfinex may change the affiliate program, the eligible fees and any percentage at any time, and a change may make taking part more or less favorable. If you don’t accept a change, your only option is to open a support ticket and leave the program through the process Bitfinex specifies. So the table shows the current terms; what applies to you is the terms in force when you open your account.

How much can you actually get back with a Bitfinex referral code?

The formula in the terms is: Member rebate = eligible fees × the rebate percentage at the time of calculation. Here is a hypothetical example: your lent funds earn a fixed 100 USDt in interest every 30 days, and Bitfinex takes 15%, so you pay 15 USDt in fees each period. The interest amount is only an assumption to make the math easy. Actual rates are set by the funding market, and Bitfinex guarantees no return.

Period (30 days each)Average rebate percentage for the periodRebate on 15 USDt of fees per period
Period 15.75%About 0.86 USDt
Period 25.25%About 0.79 USDt
Period 34.75%About 0.71 USDt
Period 44.25%About 0.64 USDt
Period 53.75%About 0.56 USDt
Period 63.25%About 0.49 USDt
Period 72.75%About 0.41 USDt
Period 82.25%About 0.34 USDt
Period 91.75%About 0.26 USDt
Period 101.25%About 0.19 USDt
Period 110.75%About 0.11 USDt
Period 120.25%About 0.04 USDt
Total (360 days)3% on average5.4 USDt

In this example you pay 180 USDt in fees over the year and get 5.4 USDt back: 3% of the fees, or 0.45% of the interest income. Put another way, the lending fee drops from 15% to an average of about 14.55%. With hidden offers (18%), the fee is 18 USDt per period and you get 6.48 USDt back over the year. The amount scales with how much you lend: someone earning 1,000 USDt in interest every 30 days gets about 54 USDt back in a year.

Timing matters a lot as well. For the same lending amount, the first 6 periods return about 4.05 USDt and the last 6 only about 1.35 USDt, a threefold difference. If you use the code, try not to leave a long gap between opening the account and starting to lend. To compare USDT savings rates at other exchanges, see USDT flexible savings rates compared.

Which coin is the Bitfinex rebate paid in, and where do you see it?

  • It is paid in the same token Bitfinex collected the fee in. Fees collected in fiat or LEO are converted to BTC or USDt, and Bitfinex may charge up to 5% for the conversion.
  • It is calculated on the fees actually collected, excluding any discounts.
  • Earnings appear in the Reports section of your account.

The terms treat two kinds of account differently (Bitfinex affiliate program terms). For accounts with Basic Plus verification or higher (Verified Accounts), the rebate is paid in the coin the fee was originally collected in; fees collected in fiat or LEO are converted to BTC or USDt, as Bitfinex decides. For unverified accounts, besides LEO, tokens Bitfinex classes as stablecoins or privacy coins may also be converted, and only to BTC. So a single month’s rebate can be made up of several coins. Conversions use the market price at the time, and Bitfinex may charge a 5% fee.

The help center says the rebate can be seen on your account’s Reports page. Interest from lending is credited daily at 01:30 UTC (09:30 Taiwan time), and you can see the payments under Ledgers in Reports by selecting Margin Interest Payments (Bitfinex affiliate program guide, Bitfinex funding earnings guide). How often Member rebates are paid is not stated officially. If you dispute an amount, you must notify Bitfinex within 30 days of receiving that rebate; after that, it counts as accepted. General checks for a rebate that hasn’t arrived are in what to do if your referral rebate hasn’t arrived.

When do you enter a Bitfinex referral code, and is verification required?

  • Enter the referral code when creating the account: choose your country of residence, then fill in the referral code field. Bitfinex documents no way to add one after sign-up.
  • Receiving the rebate itself needs no identity verification, but accounts registered after March 1, 2022 need Intermediate verification to use margin funding and Borrow.
  • Since December 19, 2024, residents and entities in the European Economic Area (EEA) can’t sign up with referral codes.

The terms say the referral code is entered “when creating an account on the Site”. The affiliate program guide also says an affiliate can’t make an existing Bitfinex user a Member, nor accounts owned or controlled by themselves or by family members living with them. So if you already have an account, you can’t attach a referral code to it, and you can’t refer yourself. How other exchanges handle adding a referral code after sign-up is compared in can you add a referral code after sign-up.

On verification, the help center says margin trading, margin funding and Bitfinex Borrow require at least Intermediate verification for accounts created after March 1, 2022; accounts created before that can use them with Basic Plus (Bitfinex verification levels). In practice, then, a new account has to complete Intermediate verification before the referral code has anything to rebate.

Before you start lending, know the thresholds (Bitfinex margin funding guide): each funding offer must be at least 150 USD or the equivalent in another coin; the lending period is 2 days minimum and 120 days maximum; and you can set the rate yourself or choose FRR (Flash Return Rate) to let the system follow the market. Once the funds are lent, you can’t take them back before the term ends, but the borrower can repay early at any time.

On privacy, the terms say the affiliate can see the affiliate earnings linked to you but not your identity details; the system shows only a random nickname. If the affiliate remembers which code they gave to whom, they could still match the earnings to you. If that matters to you, think about whose referral code to use before you sign up.

What are the risks of Bitfinex margin funding?

Bitfinex’s own guide says lending funds is not risk-free (Bitfinex funding risk FAQ). A borrower’s losses are covered first by the funds in their margin wallet, and the position is liquidated when the account’s net value falls below the maintenance margin. But if prices move so fast that liquidation can’t be filled in time, and most margin positions fall below zero, the loss may end up being shared by the lenders. Bitfinex says this has never happened, but it remains possible in theory.

The borrowing side is trading with leverage, and leverage can get a position liquidated in a short time, losing the entire margin. The fee page adds that if Bitfinex takes over your position instead of liquidating it outright, it charges a fee of 5% of “the loss that an immediate liquidation would have caused”. The referral rebate is small, and it shouldn’t be your reason to lend or borrow.

Where can’t you use Bitfinex?

Bitfinex’s terms of service list prohibited jurisdictions including Cuba, North Korea, Iran, Syria and the Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions, and prohibited persons including US persons, Canadian persons, non-exempt Japanese and UK persons, the Government of Venezuela and sanctioned persons. The list changes; the Bitfinex terms of service prevail (version updated 2026-08-12).

This list is separate from the referral code restrictions: EEA residents are not on the prohibited persons list, but since December 19, 2024 they can’t sign up with a referral code; people who were already Members before then keep their status. Taiwan isn’t on the list, but that only means the terms don’t prohibit it, not that Bitfinex is regulated in Taiwan. Restricted regions across exchanges are compared in exchange restricted countries.

Common questions

Will a Bitfinex referral code lower my trading fees?

No. Bitfinex’s trading fees are already zero, and the referral rebate applies only to margin funding and Borrow fees.

Does the rebate last forever?

No. The percentage starts at 6%, falls 0.5% every 30 days and reaches zero after 360 days. The clock starts when the account is opened, not when you first lend.

Why do other sites say a Bitfinex referral code gives a trading fee discount?

That was the old rule. Bitfinex’s current terms cover margin funding and Borrow fees, and trading fees have been zero since December 17, 2025.

Can I add a Bitfinex referral code after signing up?

Bitfinex documents no way to do that. The terms say the referral code is entered when creating the account, and the affiliate program guide says existing Bitfinex users can’t become Members, so fill it in at the sign-up step.

Do I need a Bitfinex referral code if I only trade spot or derivatives?

Even if you use one, you won’t get anything back. Trading itself has no fees, and the code only applies to margin funding and Borrow fees; using it or not makes no difference to your trading costs.

Do I need identity verification to receive the Bitfinex referral rebate?

Not for the rebate itself, but accounts opened after March 1, 2022 need Intermediate verification to use margin funding and Borrow, which are what generate the rebate. Also, for accounts without Basic Plus verification or higher, rebates in stablecoins and some other tokens may be converted and paid in BTC.

Can the referrer see my Bitfinex account?

Not your identity details. The referrer sees only a random nickname and the affiliate earnings that nickname brings in; the terms also note that a referrer who remembers who they gave the code to could still recognize you.

Is the margin funding fee the same as the funding rate on derivatives?

No. The margin funding fee is the 15% (18% for hidden offers) Bitfinex takes from lending interest, and that is what the referral code rebates. The funding rate is a fee the long and short sides of a perpetual contract pay each other, and it has nothing to do with the referral code.
