Updated Rules checked 2026-10-29
Which countries does XT (XT.COM) restrict? Section 3.3.4 of the XT User Agreement lists 9 regions where its services may not be used: the United States, Canada, mainland China, Cuba, North Korea, Singapore, Sudan, Venezuela and Crimea. Section 12.2 adds that citizens of mainland China are not accepted. During 2026, XT also published a series of notices ending service for users in the United Arab Emirates, Kazakhstan, the European Economic Area and India. Those 4 regions are not yet on the agreement’s list.
KEVINWUSo to find out where XT can’t be used, you have to read both the agreement and the notices. The agreement says the list is “not exhaustive”, that it can change at any time, and that you won’t be notified individually. The English agreement’s last-edited date shown in the help center is 2026-01-13, earlier than the UAE notice.
Below I go through the agreement’s list, the 2026 service-discontinuation notices, products that are only open in some regions, the country checks in KYC, and what happens if you use a VPN or misstate your location, each with its official XT source.
Key points:
1. Section 3.3.4 of the XT User Agreement bars anyone located in the United States, Canada, mainland China, Cuba, North Korea, Singapore, Sudan, Venezuela or Crimea from using its services, and Section 12.2 adds that citizens of mainland China may not participate.
2. In 2026 XT announced the end of service in 4 regions: the UAE (from 2026-04-14), Kazakhstan (from 2026-07-09), the European Economic Area (from 2026-07-14) and India (from 2026-09-25). New registrations and deposits stopped as soon as each notice was published.
3. Combining the agreement’s list with these 4 notices, and counting the European Economic Area as its 30 countries, XT currently names 42 countries or regions it does not serve.
4. Singapore IP addresses have been blocked since 2025-06-20. The notice says existing users can only log in to view their data and withdraw, with access kept for 3 months to 2 years.
5. The agreement says that if XT finds a user has concealed or misstated their region, nationality or place of residence in any form, it can close the account and close out the positions in it. Logging in from an IP in an unsupported country also triggers a risk-control freeze.
The information below was checked against official pages on 2026-10-29 (data check date) and is provided for reference.
What is XT’s full list of restricted countries?
Putting the User Agreement and XT’s discontinuation notices side by side, these are the regions XT currently says it does not serve:
| Region | Scope of restriction | Date | Official source |
|---|---|---|---|
| United States | Use of XT’s services prohibited | Agreement last edited 2026-01-13 | User Agreement 3.3.4 |
| Canada | Use of XT’s services prohibited | Same as above | User Agreement 3.3.4 |
| Mainland China | Use of XT’s services prohibited; the agreement also states that citizens of mainland China are not accepted | Same as above | User Agreement 3.3.4, 12.2 |
| Cuba | Use of XT’s services prohibited | Same as above | User Agreement 3.3.4 |
| North Korea | Use of XT’s services prohibited | Same as above | User Agreement 3.3.4 |
| Singapore | Use of XT’s services prohibited; Singapore IPs cannot connect to XT | IP block since 2025-06-20 | User Agreement 3.3.4, Singapore notice |
| Sudan | Use of XT’s services prohibited | Agreement last edited 2026-01-13 | User Agreement 3.3.4 |
| Venezuela | Use of XT’s services prohibited | Same as above | User Agreement 3.3.4 |
| Crimea | Use of XT’s services prohibited | Same as above | User Agreement 3.3.4 |
| United Arab Emirates | New registrations stopped, deposits closed, then all services discontinued | From 2026-04-14 | 2026-04-08 notice |
| Kazakhstan | New registrations stopped, deposits closed, then all services discontinued | From 2026-07-09 | 2026-07-08 notice |
| European Economic Area | New registrations stopped, deposits closed, then all services discontinued | From 2026-07-14 | 2026-07-08 notice |
| India | New registrations stopped, deposits closed, then all services discontinued | From 2026-09-25 | 2026-09-18 notice |
Source and date: the User Agreement in the XT help center (the English version was last edited 2026-01-13 and the Traditional Chinese version 2025-12-16; both list the same 9 regions) and XT’s regional notices, checked on 2026-10-29.
The European Economic Area is the 27 EU member states plus Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, 30 countries in all. The agreement’s 9 regions plus the UAE, Kazakhstan and India make 12; add the 30 EEA countries and XT currently names 42 countries or regions it does not serve. If you only read the agreement, you would think XT restricts just 9 places.
Mainland China has an extra “citizenship” restriction
Section 3.3.4 of the agreement refers to people “located in” these regions, so it looks at where you are. Mainland China has one more rule: Section 12.2 says the agreement applies only to people who are not citizens of mainland China and “does not accept participation by citizens of mainland China.” In other words, even if they live somewhere off the list, citizens of mainland China are still outside the users XT serves under the agreement. XT’s football prediction event FAQ also lists China as a restricted region, and agent accounts and users whose KYC country or IP is in a restricted region cannot take part.
Singapore: trading stopped first, then the IP block
XT’s notice on restricted access from Singapore IPs, signed 2025-06-10, gives two dates. From 2025-06-15 XT stopped serving Singapore users (the notice describes it as “clearing out” these users): no opening futures positions, no spot trading, no deposits and no lending. From 2025-06-20 Singapore IPs were formally blocked. Singapore users who already have an account can still log in to view their personal data and request withdrawals, but cannot trade. Login and withdrawal access is kept for 3 months to 2 years, and the notice says the exact shutdown date “will be announced separately.” As of 2026-10-29, I could not find any later notice in the XT help center announcing that date.
User Agreement or discontinuation notices: which one counts?
Both count, and right now the notices are newer than the agreement. Section 2 of the agreement says XT may revise it from time to time, with changes taking effect as soon as they are posted on the website and no separate notice given. Section 3.3.4 also says the list changes with each country’s policies and that XT “will not specifically notify you.” The UAE notice says outright that XT is “adding the United Arab Emirates to the list of regions where services are discontinued,” yet the English agreement’s last-edited date is still 2026-01-13 and its list still has the original 9 regions.
Regions XT stopped serving in 2026
Dates are when all services ended; new sign-ups and deposits stopped on the day of each notice
- UAE
- Kazakhstan
- European Economic Area
- India
All 4 notices in 2026 followed the same process: on the day of the notice XT stopped accepting registrations from residents of that region and closed deposits for existing users, then ended all services a few days later. The time from notice to full discontinuation was:
| Region | Notice date | All services discontinued | Gap | Does the notice mention withdrawals? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| UAE | 2026-04-08 | 2026-04-14 | 6 days | Not mentioned |
| Kazakhstan | 2026-07-08 | 2026-07-09 | 1 day | Withdrawals by existing users “not affected in any way” |
| European Economic Area | 2026-07-08 | 2026-07-14 | 6 days | Withdrawals by existing users “not affected in any way” |
| India | 2026-09-18 | 2026-09-25 | 7 days | Withdrawals by existing users “not affected in any way” |
Source and date: UAE notice, Kazakhstan notice, European Economic Area notice, India notice, checked on 2026-10-29. I calculated the gaps by subtracting the notice dates.
The shortest gap from notice to full discontinuation was just 1 day (Kazakhstan), and deposits closed on the day of the notice, so keep an eye on XT’s announcements page. A place missing from the agreement’s list is not necessarily one where XT is allowed locally; a local regulator may still block it on its own. I cover the Thailand example in my XT review.
Which XT services are only open in some regions?
Beyond countries that can’t use XT at all, some XT product notices state that the product is only open in certain regions. Here are the ones where XT has written down a regional condition:
| Service | What XT says | Date | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Event Contracts | Currently open only in some regions, so your country or region may not have access; app only, not supported on the web | 2025-08-25 launch notice | Event Contracts notice |
| Futures copy trading, Smart Money copy trading | The campaign is open only to users and regions where futures copy trading and Smart Money services are enabled; some jurisdictions may have no access or limited access | 2026-08-21 campaign notice | Smart Money copy trading campaign |
| Scan to Pay | Currently supports 13 countries: Malaysia, Vietnam, Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Cambodia, Indonesia, Bolivia, Colombia, the Philippines, Laos, Mongolia and South Korea; payment in USDT only, with settlement handled by local third-party payment providers | Updated 2026-09-09 | Scan to Pay overview |
| Third-party crypto purchase (fiat) | You pay in your own country’s fiat currency; first-time users must pass the provider’s own KYC (Banxa, Mercuryo and others), and Mercuryo asks for different documents depending on nationality | Updated 2026-02-03 | Third-party payment guide |
| XPredict (connected to Polymarket) | Before using it, check whether it complies with the laws where you are | 2026-05-15 notice | XPredict notice |
| XRWU | Regional laws or platform policies may affect product availability and rules | Updated 2025-10-27 | XRWU overview |
| Platform campaigns (e.g. the football prediction event) | Agent accounts and users whose KYC country or IP is in a restricted region cannot sign up | 2025-10-11 | Football prediction event FAQ |
Source and date: the XT official notices and help articles in each row, checked on 2026-10-29. Apart from spot, I did not find any clause listing separate countries in the service agreements for futures, margin, P2P or Earn; for these I only found the User Agreement’s regional restrictions. Whether you can actually use a product depends on whether its entry point appears after you log in.
Futures and margin need extra care: the User Agreement says XT can close out your positions if you misstate your location, and leveraged trading itself can lead to forced liquidation and the loss of your margin. For how to enable XT futures and how they work, see the XT futures guide.
Does XT’s KYC check your nationality and location?
Yes. XT’s “How do I complete identity verification?” asks you to choose a country or region before you start. Limits and verification methods differ by country or region, and verification may go through Sumsub or manual review. In XT’s list of common reasons verification is rejected (2026-02-21), item 5 is “eligibility or regional restrictions”:
- Verification submitted from a restricted country or region will be rejected.
- You must be at least 18 and under 70 years old.
- People identified as politically exposed persons (PEPs) or sanctioned persons may also be rejected.
- One ID document can verify only one account; you cannot reuse a document that has already been used.
XT says review usually takes 2 business days, and if you are rejected you are told why by email or in-app message. Section 3.3.1 of the User Agreement also says that, depending on the rules of each jurisdiction, you may need to provide your real name and an ID document. Section 5.8 says XT can ask for more information under the rules of your country or region and, where necessary, suspend or permanently stop offering you some or all services. For the full verification steps, see the XT KYC guide.
What happens if you use a VPN or a false nationality?
The word “VPN” does not appear in the XT User Agreement, but the relevant clauses are blunt:
- Section 3.3.4: if XT determines that, while using its services, you concealed or misrepresented your region, nationality or place of residence in any form, XT has the right to take any appropriate measures, including closing your account and closing out the positions in it. XT can also terminate or cancel an account at any time when the rules are broken.
- Section 3.1: XT reserves the right to cancel or permanently freeze the accounts of people who do not meet the registration requirements.
- Section 6.2: if you breach the agreement or other laws and regulations, you must compensate XT at least USD 2 million and cover the related costs, including legal fees.
- XT’s risk-control explanation: logging in from an IP in a country or region where XT does not support trading is one of the situations that triggers risk control and locks the account.
Once risk control has locked an account, XT says to submit a ticket as instructed in the SMS or email. The platform reviews it within 3 to 7 business days, and you must provide documents that prove you own the account; if the documents are insufficient or the case does not meet the appeal conditions, it cannot be handled in time. XT’s football prediction event FAQ also says eligibility is judged on two things, “KYC country” and “IP”, so the country you enter in KYC also affects which services you can use. For general steps when an account is frozen, see what to do if your exchange account is frozen.
What to do if you move to a restricted region or the list changes
Section 3.3.4 of the agreement requires you to notify XT immediately if you are, or become, a resident of a region on the list. Based on XT’s past notices, you can handle it in this order:
- First check the cut-off date in the notice. All 4 notices in 2026 closed deposits on the day they were published, and the shortest gap before all services ended was just 1 day.
- Withdraw your assets to your own wallet or another platform before the cut-off date. The Kazakhstan, European Economic Area and India notices say withdrawals are not affected during the notice period; the UAE notice does not mention withdrawals.
- If you have futures or margin positions, deal with them yourself first; the agreement says XT can close out the positions in your account when necessary.
- The Singapore notice warns that scams and phishing links may increase while services are being adjusted, so only confirm news through official channels. Any message asking you to pay before you can withdraw is a scam.
For withdrawal steps and choosing a network, see how to deposit and withdraw on XT. Fake support agents and demands for an “unfreeze fee” are covered in fake exchange withdrawal scams.
FAQ
Can I use XT in the US?
No. Section 3.3.4 of the XT User Agreement lists the United States as a region where use of its services is prohibited, so nobody located in the US can use XT. If you conceal or misstate your location, XT can close your account and close out your positions.
Which countries does XT support?
XT does not publish a list of supported countries, only a list of restrictions. Outside the agreement’s 9 regions and the UAE, Kazakhstan, the European Economic Area and India, where XT has announced the end of service, XT’s terms do not prohibit other places. XT’s 8th anniversary press release from October 2026 says it serves more than 200 countries and regions and over 12 million registered users. A place not being listed in the terms does not mean local law allows it, and products such as Event Contracts and Scan to Pay are only open in some regions.
Can I still use XT in Europe?
Not in the European Economic Area. XT announced on 2026-07-08 that it was stopping registrations from EEA residents and closing deposits for existing users with immediate effect, and it discontinued all services from 2026-07-14. The UK and Switzerland are not part of the European Economic Area, and neither XT’s agreement nor its notices list them.
Can I still log in to XT from Singapore?
Singapore IPs have been blocked since 2025-06-20. XT’s notice says existing Singapore users can still log in to view their data and request withdrawals but cannot trade, with access kept for 3 months to 2 years and the exact shutdown date to be announced separately. As of 2026-10-29 I could not find a later notice announcing that date.
Can users from mainland China use XT?
No. Section 3.3.4 of the XT User Agreement bars anyone located in mainland China from using its services, and Section 12.2 adds that the agreement applies only to people who are not citizens of mainland China and does not accept participation by citizens of mainland China. So citizens of mainland China living abroad are not among the users XT serves either.
Can I still use XT in India or Dubai (UAE)?
No to both. XT ended all services for users in India from 2026-09-25 and for users in the United Arab Emirates from 2026-04-14. Both notices stopped new registrations and closed deposits on the day they were published.
Will logging in to XT with a VPN get my account frozen?
It can. XT’s risk-control explanation lists “logging in from an IP in a country or region where XT does not support trading” as one of the situations that triggers risk control, and the account gets locked. To unlock it you have to submit a ticket, wait 3 to 7 business days for review and provide documents proving you own the account. The User Agreement also says that if you misstate your region, nationality or place of residence, XT can close your account and close out your positions.
How often does XT update its restricted list?
There is no fixed schedule. XT’s agreement says the list is adjusted as each country’s policies change and that users are not notified individually. All 4 service discontinuations in 2026 were announced through notices, and as of 2026-10-29 the agreement text had not been updated to match, so check both.
A comparison of restricted regions across 13 exchanges is in the exchange restricted countries list. XT’s fees, reserves and security record are in the XT review, the identity verification steps are in the XT KYC guide, and sign-up is covered in the XT referral code guide.
