MEXC Restricted Countries 2026: Full List and KYC

Updated Rules checked 2026-10-29

Which countries does MEXC restrict? Clause 1 (“PROHIBITED JURISDICTION”) of MEXC’s terms of use (updated 2026-10-13) names 15 countries or regions where MEXC provides no services and accepts no registrations: North Korea, Cuba, Sudan, Iran, mainland China, Singapore, Malaysia, the US, the UK, Hong Kong, Kazakhstan, Russia, the Russian-controlled regions of Ukraine, Belarus and Canada. Countries under comprehensive EU or US OFAC sanctions, and countries on the FATF “call for action” list, are covered too. The terms state that this list is not exhaustive and that MEXC can change it at any time.

Beyond the terms, MEXC also pulls out of countries one at a time through announcements. On 2026-10-20 it announced it was ending services for users in Russia and Belarus. Users in the Netherlands are being offboarded in four batches, with the last batch completing on 2026-10-31. Users in France are being wound down in four batches starting 2026-10-28, and withdrawals close on 2027-03-05. In India, trading and deposits have been suspended since 2026-02-28. Eligibility depends on where you live and on your identity verification details, so switching your IP with a VPN doesn’t change the outcome. The terms also state that if your residence information is false, MEXC can terminate your account outright and close any open positions.

Below, based on official pages, you’ll find the full list, the regions being wound down or limited to some services, where the app is available, what happens if you use a VPN or enter the wrong nationality, and what to do if you move or the list changes. Every item comes with its source.

Key points:
1. MEXC’s terms of use (2026-10-13 version) name 15 prohibited regions, including the US, Canada, the UK, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, mainland China, Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus. They also cover countries under comprehensive EU or US OFAC sanctions and countries on the FATF blacklist.
2. MEXC’s own restricted regions explainer (updated 2026-10-21) and its KYC article both say 13, and neither counts Russia or Belarus as part of the terms’ list. Where the two differ, MEXC states that the terms of use and official announcements prevail.
3. Users in the Netherlands are being offboarded in four batches: accounts in the last batch are restricted from 2026-10-24, and offboarding completes on 2026-10-31. Users in France are being wound down in four batches starting 2026-10-28; from 2027-01-22 open positions are automatically closed at a fair price, and withdrawals close on 2027-03-05.
4. In India, trading and deposits have been suspended since 2026-02-28: spot trading, opening new futures positions, P2P, and rupee deposits and withdrawals have all stopped. As of 2026-10-29, I found no announcement in MEXC’s announcement center that services have resumed.
5. MEXC’s app availability page (updated 2026-08-26) does not list Japan, South Korea, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, mainland China or the UK, yet prohibited regions such as the US, Canada and Hong Kong appear on it as available for download. Being able to download the app doesn’t mean you can use it.

The information below was checked against official pages on 2026-10-29 (data check date) and is provided for reference.

Which countries does MEXC ban? The full restricted list

In substance, clause 1 of the MEXC Terms of Use (Last Updated: 13 October, 2026) says this: you must confirm that you are not a resident of a prohibited jurisdiction, and MEXC currently does not provide services in the countries below or accept user registrations or trading applications from them. The contracting party is MEXC (Comoros) Ltd, registered in the Union of the Comoros, and the terms page under the Traditional Chinese URL shows the same English version.

Source: MEXC Terms of Use, clause 1, viewed 2026-10-29. The notes “the rest of Ukraine is not on the list” and “the entire country” for Canada come from the MEXC restricted regions explainer (updated 2026-10-21); the 2025-05-29 list is as quoted in the MEXC KYC article.

Watch the count here. MEXC’s restricted regions explainer and its KYC article both say “13”, and neither list includes Russia or Belarus; the explainer treats those two as markets MEXC announced separately that it is leaving. The current terms already put both countries in clause 1, which makes 15 (the Russian-controlled regions of Ukraine count as one entry). The explainer itself states that the terms of use and official announcements prevail.

Which countries are on the sanctions and FATF blacklists?

The terms only name the two categories, sanctions and the FATF blacklist, without listing any countries; which countries the EU and OFAC sanctions cover is not officially stated by MEXC. On the FATF side, MEXC’s restricted regions explainer says the “call for action” list the FATF published in June 2026 consists of North Korea, Iran and Myanmar. North Korea and Iran are already in clause 1. Myanmar isn’t named, but under this provision it is also outside MEXC’s service area. The FATF updates its list every year, and the countries the terms cover change with it.

Which regions are being wound down or have only some services restricted?

Clause 6 of the terms states that some products and features may not be available in certain regions or to certain users, and that MEXC can add restrictions without prior notice. In practice MEXC does this through announcements. These are the regions I found in MEXC’s announcement center on 2026-10-29:

The Netherlands and France announcements work the same way: MEXC first stops new positions and deposits, gives users time to close positions and withdraw, and handles whatever is left once the deadline passes. Open positions are automatically closed at a fair price, and the remaining assets are transferred to a regulated custodian. The Netherlands announcement also states that outstanding loans are forcibly settled using collateral, with a 5% fee. Individual deadlines for closing positions and withdrawing are usually sent only by email, so go by the notice you receive. Futures are leveraged: if the market moves against you before the deadline, your position can still be liquidated and you can lose your margin.

Why can’t some countries download the MEXC app when they aren’t in the terms?

MEXC’s app availability page (updated 2026-08-26) lists 167 countries and regions and marks whether the app can be downloaded from the App Store and Google Play. The list leaves out Japan, South Korea, India, Indonesia and the Philippines, as well as Malaysia, mainland China and the UK, which are already on the prohibited list.

Conversely, the list marks the US, Canada, Singapore, Hong Kong, Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus, Cuba, Iran and Sudan as available in both stores, and Myanmar is on it too, yet under the terms of use all of these regions are outside MEXC’s service area. MEXC’s restricted regions explainer puts it bluntly: being listed in an app store does not make you eligible to use MEXC; eligibility is decided by the terms of use and official announcements.

For several countries that are not in the terms but where the app is unavailable, MEXC’s restricted regions explainer (in a section checked on 2026-10-08) sums up the local situation. Japan’s Financial Services Agency warned MEXC Global twice, on 2023-03-31 and 2024-11-28, for operating without registration. South Korea blocked new downloads on Google Play and then on the App Store in March and April 2025. The Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission named MEXC in an August 2025 advisory, and telecom carriers began blocking access the same month. In Europe, after the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets’ decision of 2025-09-16, MEXC was added to the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) interim register of non-compliant entities. Rules differ by country, so go by your local regulator’s announcements.

What happens if you use a VPN or a fake nationality?

The terms of use don’t use the word “VPN”, but the relevant clauses spell out the consequences clearly:

  • Clause 4(v): by registering or using MEXC, you represent that you are not a resident of a prohibited jurisdiction, are not located there, are not accessing MEXC from there, and are not using it on behalf of a person or company there.
  • Clause 1: if MEXC determines that the location or residence information you provided is false, it may take appropriate action under the law, including terminating your account immediately and closing any open positions.
  • Clause 17(f)(vii): forging headers, impersonating others, or manipulating identifiers to disguise your identity or the origin of your connection is prohibited.
  • Clause 21: if MEXC suspects that an account violates the terms or the law, it can block orders and freeze the account and the assets in it.
  • Clause 53: if MEXC believes your identity information may be inaccurate, it can ask for additional documents; if you don’t provide them, your account may be fully or partly restricted, including being unable to withdraw or transfer out assets.

MEXC’s restricted regions explainer also states that accessing MEXC from a prohibited jurisdiction violates the terms of use whether or not you use a VPN, because a VPN changes your IP, not where you live or where you are.

How does MEXC decide where you’re from?

Going by the official documents, MEXC looks at both your identity verification details and where you access it from. MEXC’s “Why is identity verification necessary” explainer states that “users who are not in a MEXC-restricted country and whose country appears as an option on the page can submit identity verification”, and both primary and advanced verification require you to select your nationality and document type manually. The KYC article also says that documents issued by restricted countries are rejected. The Netherlands and France exit announcements both identify which users belong to the country based on KYC and account details. The France announcement adds that if you think your nationality details are wrong, you should contact customer support as soon as possible, but unless MEXC confirms otherwise, requesting a review does not pause or delay the timeline. The India announcement, by contrast, applies to users “accessing from an Indian address”.

Skipping identity verification doesn’t get you around this either. According to the MEXC KYC FAQ (updated 2026-06-02), not completing identity verification affects services such as deposits, withdrawals and trading, because of the compliance requirements of your region, and you may see a “Funds restricted, cannot be credited” message. If you truly can’t complete verification, you can apply to have the restricted funds returned or submit a withdrawal appeal; once it’s approved, the account keeps only withdrawal and position-closing permissions. For the verification steps, see the MEXC KYC guide; for what to do when your account is restricted, see what to do if your exchange account is frozen.

What if you move to a restricted region or the list changes?

Clause 1 of the terms of use states that if you become a resident of a prohibited jurisdiction, you must notify MEXC as soon as possible. Based on MEXC’s official announcements, you can handle it in this order:

  1. Notify MEXC of your change of residence through online customer support or by submitting a ticket.
  2. Check the email inbox you registered with (including the spam folder) for MEXC’s notice about your batch and deadlines. The Netherlands, France, Russia and Belarus announcements all state that your personal deadline is the one in this email.
  3. Before the deadline, cancel open orders, close positions, stop bots, redeem Earn products and repay loans, then withdraw your assets to your own wallet or another exchange; for the withdrawal steps, see how to deposit and withdraw on MEXC.
  4. If you miss the deadline, the Netherlands and France announcements say that open positions are automatically closed at a fair price and the remaining assets are transferred to a regulated custodian; MEXC will announce separately how to get them back.

Watch out for scams during this period too. MEXC’s restricted regions explainer states that MEXC will never send private messages asking for payment, account passwords or seed phrases, or asking you to move your assets; any request like that is a scam. For the script where you’re told to pay an “unfreezing fee” before you can withdraw, see fake exchange withdrawal scams.

FAQ

Can I use MEXC in the US?

No. The entire United States is on the prohibited list in MEXC’s terms of use (updated 2026-10-13), and US residents cannot register or use MEXC. MEXC’s app availability page does mark the US as available for download, but MEXC states that being listed in an app store doesn’t mean you’re eligible to use it.

Which countries does MEXC support?

MEXC doesn’t publish a list of “supported countries”, only prohibited lists: the 15 regions in the terms of use, plus countries under comprehensive EU or OFAC sanctions and countries on the FATF blacklist. For regions that are not on these lists and have no exit announcement, MEXC’s restricted regions explainer says you “can use it, but must comply with local laws”. The 167 regions on the app availability page only show where the app can be downloaded.

Can I use MEXC in Hong Kong or Singapore?

No. Hong Kong and Singapore are both on the prohibited list in MEXC’s terms of use, along with mainland China and Malaysia. Residents of these regions can’t register or trade.

Can I still use MEXC in Russia or Belarus?

You can’t open a new account, and existing users are being wound down. On 2026-10-20 MEXC announced that it is ending services for users in Russia and Belarus, with deadlines to close positions and withdraw given in individual notices; the 2026-10-13 terms of use also list both countries as prohibited. The announcement adds that accounts that did not receive a notice are not affected by this change.

Can I still use MEXC in Europe?

Most EU countries are not on the prohibited list in the terms, but MEXC states that it does not hold MiCA authorization, and it is pulling out country by country. Users in the Netherlands are being offboarded in four batches, with the last batch completing on 2026-10-31; users in France are being wound down in four batches starting 2026-10-28, with withdrawals closing on 2027-03-05; and the MEXC Global Card currently does not accept applications from residents of the European Economic Area.

Can I use MEXC in India?

Not for trading right now. To register with India’s Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU-IND), MEXC paused new user registrations in India from 2026-01-15 and suspended trading and deposits from 2026-02-28. As of 2026-10-29, I found no announcement in MEXC’s announcement center that services have resumed. India is not on the prohibited list in the terms of use; the restriction was put in place through announcements.

Can I use MEXC in Japan or South Korea?

Neither Japan nor South Korea is on the prohibited list in MEXC’s terms of use, but MEXC’s app availability page doesn’t list either country, and the official app can’t be downloaded from the local app stores. Japan’s Financial Services Agency has twice warned MEXC Global for operating without registration, and South Korea has blocked new downloads of the app (MEXC restricted regions explainer). Go by your local regulator’s rules.

Will my MEXC account be frozen if I log in with a VPN?

It can be. MEXC states that accessing it from a prohibited jurisdiction violates the terms of use whether or not you use a VPN. The terms allow MEXC to terminate an account immediately and close open positions if it finds that residence information is false, and to freeze the account and its assets when it suspects a violation. Identity verification asks you to select your nationality and the country that issued your document, and documents issued by restricted countries are rejected.

For a comparison of restricted regions across 13 exchanges, see exchange restricted countries. For MEXC’s fees, reserves and products, see the MEXC review; for asset safety and its regulatory record, see Is MEXC safe? The identity verification steps are in the MEXC KYC guide, and how to sign up is in MEXC referral code.
