LBank KYC Verification Guide: Sign-Up, Documents, Review Time (2026)

Updated Rules checked 2026-10-19

LBank’s sign-up form has a “Referral Code (Optional)” field, placed below the login password field and above the “Sign up” button. If you want to use one, fill it in before you submit: LBank’s Referral Program FAQ states that the referral code must be entered when you first register, and it cannot be added or changed after registration. Signing up itself only takes an email address or phone number plus a login password, and you can also use an Apple, Google or Telegram account, or a MetaMask or Phantom wallet.

KYC (identity verification) comes after sign-up. LBank’s KYC FAQ lists a passport, ID card or driver’s license issued by a supported country as accepted documents. You also need a front-facing selfie of your head together with a handwritten note that reads “LBank + today’s date”. On review time, LBank says automatic review usually takes 5–30 minutes, and complex cases go to manual review, which takes 1–3 business days.

LBank has not published KYC levels or a withdrawal limit for each level, and it does not list every country whose documents it accepts. Taiwan does not appear on any of LBank’s three lists of unsupported countries/regions, but whether you can actually select it depends on the “Country/Region” menu on the verification page. Below, based on articles from LBank’s Help Center, I go through sign-up, KYC, what to do after a rejection, and setting up 2FA.

Key points: the “Referral Code (Optional)” field on LBank’s sign-up page sits below the password field, and LBank’s Referral Program FAQ states that the referral code must be entered at first registration and cannot be added or changed afterward. LBank’s User Service Agreement states that after registering, users who want to trade digital assets must provide genuine identity document information and complete real-name verification. The KYC FAQ lists a passport, ID card or driver’s license issued by a supported country, and the selfie needs a handwritten note (LBank + YYYY-MM-DD). LBank’s stated review time is usually 5–30 minutes for automatic review and 1–3 business days for manual review. LBank has not published KYC levels or per-level withdrawal limits.

The information below was checked against LBank’s official pages on 2026-10-19 (fact-check date) and is provided for reference.

What fields are on the LBank sign-up form? Can you add a referral code later?

I opened LBank’s Traditional Chinese sign-up page on 2026-10-19. From top to bottom, the form has these items (labels below are from LBank’s English sign-up page):

Field (page label)Required or optionalNotes
“Email” / “Phone” tabsChoose oneWith “Email”, enter your email address; with “Phone”, pick the country/region code first, then enter your phone number
“Set the login password”RequiredThe password you log in with; you can reset it later on the website or in the app
“Referral Code (Optional)”OptionalThe placeholder asks you to enter a referral code; this is the only step where you can fill it in
“Sign up” button—The page notes that clicking it means you have read and agree to the LBank Service Agreement
Google and other third-party iconsAlternativeRegister by authorizing a third-party account, with no separate email and password needed

Source: LBank sign-up page (viewed 2026-10-19). On the English sign-up page the field is called “Referral Code (Optional)” and sits in the same place.

The referral code rules are in LBank’s Referral Program FAQ (page date 2025-10-23): the referral code must be entered when you first register your LBank account; if you forget to enter it or enter it wrong, the referrer does not receive commission from that user; and the code cannot be added or changed after registration. The English version says the same: “The referral code cannot be added or modified after registration.” So if you only think of a referral code when you get to KYC, it is already too late. Whether each exchange lets you add one afterward is covered in can you add a referral code after signing up; for what a referral code is and how it works, see what is a referral code.

How to sign up for LBank: web and app steps

LBank supports three ways to sign up: email, phone number and third-party accounts. The steps below follow the Help Center articles “How to Register an LBank Account with Your Email”, “How to Register an LBank Account with Your Phone” and “LBank Supports Third-Party Account Registration”. Button names follow LBank’s English interface.

Web (email or phone)

  1. Go to LBank’s official website (lbank.com) and click the yellow “Sign Up” button in the upper-right corner; if you are signing up with email, you can also enter your email address on the homepage to start registration.
  2. Choose “Email” or “Phone”. With “Email”, enter your email address; with “Phone”, choose your country/region code first, then enter your phone number.
  3. Set your login password. If you have a referral code, enter it now in the “Referral Code (Optional)” field.
  4. Click “Sign up”. If the email address or phone number is not already used by another LBank account, registration succeeds; if the system says it is already registered, use a different email or number that has never been registered on LBank.

App

  1. Open the official LBank app and tap “Sign Up / Log In” on the home screen.
  2. Choose “Email” or “Phone”, enter your details, set a login password and tap “Sign Up”.
  3. Complete the security verification as prompted.
  4. The system sends a verification code to your email or phone; enter it and you are registered and logged in.

If the verification code does not arrive, LBank suggests first checking your spam and promotions folders, or the spam messages on your phone, and contacting support if it still hasn’t come. One more thing to remember: both sign-up articles note that withdrawals are temporarily restricted for 24 hours after a password reset. Signing up with a third-party account

The website supports authorization with three accounts (Apple, Google and Telegram) and connection with two wallets (MetaMask and Phantom); the app lists only Apple, Google and Telegram. After authorization, the page lets you choose “Register a new LBank account” or “Link an Existing LBank Account”. LBank recommends that after signing up with a third-party account you bind an email address or phone number in your account settings and turn on 2FA. Do you have to complete KYC on LBank? What levels and limits are there?

Two official LBank documents address whether KYC is required, and they don’t say quite the same thing. Here they are side by side:

Official documentWhat it says
LBank User Service Agreement (2026-07-22)After completing registration, users who want to trade digital assets must provide genuine identity document information and complete real-name verification
LBank KYC Identity Verification FAQs (2026-07-24)“Applies only to regions/accounts required to complete KYC: without verification, deposits, trading, and withdrawals will be unavailable”

The User Service Agreement says you must complete real-name verification before trading, while the FAQ limits the restriction to “regions/accounts required to complete KYC”. LBank does not state which regions or accounts count as “required”. The safest approach is to complete KYC right after signing up, so you don’t find out you’re blocked only when you try to withdraw.

Levels and limits: none of the LBank Help Center articles I checked mention tiers such as Lv1 or Lv2, and none give a daily withdrawal limit table for regular accounts; the account status labels in the app guide are only “Identity Not Verified” and “Verified”. The only official table that shows a difference in limits between KYC and non-KYC accounts is in the LBank Pay User Guide, and it applies only to LBank Pay’s payment feature in places such as Vietnam, Brazil, the Philippines and Laos. Taking Vietnamese VND as an example, the daily limit is 1,500 USDT for KYC accounts and 500 USDT for Non-KYC accounts, so the former is 3 times the latter. These figures cannot be used to estimate withdrawal limits for a spot account.

KYC also affects how account security settings are handled. How to Reset Your Google Authenticator (Web)? states that accounts that have completed KYC must pass a liveness check before changing Google Authenticator themselves. Accounts that have not completed KYC and have only 1 security method bound cannot change it themselves; they must first bind another security method, or submit a “Google Authenticator Reset Request” through customer support with information such as the transaction hashes of their 2–3 most recent deposits. So if you lose your phone, a KYC-verified account can change the authenticator on its own through the liveness check, while an account without KYC and with only one security method has to go through a customer support request.

What do you need for LBank KYC? Can you use a Taiwan ID card?

The LBank KYC FAQs include a checklist:

ItemOfficial requirement
Document typePassport, ID card or driver’s license (issued by a supported country); the web menu also has “Other”
SelfieFront-facing selfie of your head plus a handwritten note reading LBank + YYYY-MM-DD (today’s date)
Photo qualityIn color, sharp, unobstructed, all four corners visible; photograph the original document; scans, screenshots, photocopies, black-and-white images and edited photos are not accepted
How to shootUse your phone’s native camera with no beauty mode or filters; good lighting, no glare or blur
ConnectionUse stable Wi-Fi so the upload isn’t interrupted

Sources: LBank KYC Identity Verification FAQs (2026-07-24) and “Strengthen Account Security: Complete LBank KYC Verification (Web)”. The handwritten note appears only in the FAQ; the web and app step-by-step articles only mention facial recognition and the liveness check. It’s a good idea to write the note in advance and keep it at hand, so you don’t have to interrupt the process if the page asks for it.

LBank does not state whether a Taiwan ID card is accepted. It only says documents must be issued by a “supported country” and gives no list of countries. I checked the three lists of unsupported countries/regions (see “Which countries/regions can’t use LBank?” below), and Taiwan is on none of them. The documents you can actually choose are whatever appears after you select the document’s country/region on the verification page. The passport is the one document type listed everywhere in the FAQ.

Two more rules are worth knowing up front. The User Service Agreement states that the name of the person sending a transfer must match the name on the real-name verification, and that accounts may not be gifted, lent, rented or transferred to anyone else. So don’t use a family member’s document to verify your account, and don’t lend your verified account to someone else.

LBank KYC steps on the web

The steps below follow Strengthen Account Security: Complete LBank KYC Verification (Web). LBank’s articles don’t use one consistent name for the same page (both “Account Security” and “Security” appear), so go by the button text you actually see.

  1. Log in to the LBank website and go to “Account Security” (the Google Authenticator setup guide says you get there from the profile icon in the upper-right corner).
  2. Click “Identity Verification > Verification” to start.
  3. Choose or search for your “Country/Region”, then choose a “Document Type”: “Passport”, “ID Card”, “Driver’s License” or “Other”.
  4. Upload photos of your document as prompted.
  5. If needed, click “View Our Guidelines” and read the instructions for facial recognition and the liveness check, then follow the on-screen instructions.
  6. After a successful submission, wait for the review notice; if the submission fails, click “Retry”. Once you pass, the verification badge turns green and the “Identity Verification” field shows the name on the verified document.

LBank KYC steps in the app

The steps below follow Strengthen Account Security: Complete LBank KYC Verification (App) (page date 2026-07-02).

  1. Log in to the LBank app and tap your avatar at the top of the home screen to open “Personal Center”.
  2. Tap the orange “Identity Not Verified >” label next to your avatar, go to “Account Information” and choose “Identity Verification”.
  3. Check your account details, then tap “Verify Immediately”.
  4. Choose the “Country/Region of Your ID” and “ID Type” and tap “Next”; confirm the “Issuing Country” and “Document Type” once more and tap “Continue”.
  5. Read the notes, place your document inside the camera frame so all key information is clearly visible, and tap “Continue” to take the photo. After upload the system checks it automatically; if the photo can’t be read, you are sent back to the submission page to retake it.
  6. Complete facial recognition by following the on-screen prompts. Once you pass, you get a verification success notice, and the orange “Identity Not Verified” in Personal Center changes to a green “Verified”.

You can check the review status on the “Identity Verification” page after logging in to your account.

How long does LBank KYC review take? What if you’re rejected?

The official FAQ gives these times: automatic review usually takes 5–30 minutes; complex cases go to manual review, which takes 1–3 business days. If you submit on a Friday night and it goes to manual review, then after the weekend the result may come as late as the following Wednesday (counting the 1–3 business days from Monday; this is my own estimate, as LBank does not say whether reviews are processed on weekends).

If you are rejected, first check the reason shown on the verification page or in the rejection email. The official FAQ lists four reasons and what to do about each:

Rejection reason (official wording)Officially suggested fix
Photo does not meet requirementsPlenty of natural light; all four corners visible and text legible; avoid glare, blur and editing
Document already used (already verified on another LBank account)Use another valid government document (passport/driver’s license)
Unsupported KYC document (country/region compliance restrictions)If you have one, use a passport or ID card issued by a supported country instead
Unacceptable document (scan/screenshot/photocopy/edited image)Upload a color photo of the original physical document; scans, black-and-white images and edited photos are not accepted

Source: LBank KYC Identity Verification FAQs (2026-07-24). Watch the number of attempts before you retry: the FAQ in How to Reset Your Google Authenticator (Web)? says “Each account may complete KYC verification up to 3 times per day.” Once you use up the day’s attempts, you have to wait until the next day or contact support. So don’t shoot three times in a row right after a rejection; fix the problem using the table above first, then resubmit.

C3 video verification when your account is restricted

A regular KYC rejection and an account restricted by risk control are two different things. The LBank Restricted Account Handling Guide (2026-06-17) explains what to do when trading or withdrawals are restricted: depending on the case, complete “C3 video verification” and submit a support ticket.

  • Simple C3: record one continuous video, with no pauses or edits, of yourself holding your identity document and a sheet of paper with the current date and time and your LBank UID written on it; also attach photos of the front and back of the document and the document number.
  • Complex C3: the video has two parts. The first part is the same as Simple C3; the second part shows the device screen you use to log in to LBank (with the current date and time on screen), where you log out and log back in, all done by you and recorded continuously. You do not need to show your password.
  • Processing time: after you submit the ticket and video, LBank says review is usually completed within 2 hours, with the result sent through the ticket; you can also check progress under “Personal Center > Self-Service > My Support Tickets”. The risk control team’s email is [email protected], and LBank asks you not to submit a ticket and send an email at the same time.

What a UID is and where to find it is covered in what is an exchange UID; for the general steps when an account is frozen, see what to do if your exchange account is frozen.

After KYC, set up 2FA first

LBank uses Google Authenticator as its 2FA tool. The steps in Enhance Your Account Security: Google Authenticator Setup Guide (2025-11-10) are:

  • Web: after logging in, click the profile icon in the upper-right corner, go to “Security” and click “Add” next to “Google Authenticator”; install the Google Authenticator app on your phone and click “Next”, scan the QR code or enter the key manually, click “Send” to get an email verification code, enter the Google Authenticator code and click “Complete”.
  • App: go to “Personal Center > Security”, tap “Google Auth”, scan the code or copy the setup key as prompted, complete “Email Verification” and “Google Authenticator”, then tap “Confirm”.
  • Save the setup key separately. LBank states that if you lose your phone, you need this key to restore the authenticator on a new device.

If you change Google Authenticator later, your account triggers a 24-hour security restriction during which you cannot withdraw crypto or make fiat trades; resetting your login password also restricts withdrawals for 24 hours. Avoid changing these settings right before a large withdrawal. How to turn on each exchange’s security settings (2FA, anti-phishing code, withdrawal whitelist) is covered in exchange account security settings.

Which countries/regions can’t use LBank?

LBank has three unsupported lists, and they don’t match exactly. I counted the entries as they appear on each page (“Sudan and Darfur” counts as one):

List sourceEntriesOnly on this listIncludes Taiwan?
User Service Agreement, “Important Notice” (no registration or investment by individual users)34Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Kyrgyzstan, Lesotho, Mauritania, UruguayNo
User Service Agreement, “Special Disclaimer” (no services provided)28BelarusNo
KYC FAQ, “Why Can’t I Find My Country/Region?”30Venezuela, India, PalauNo

Sources: LBank User Service Agreement (2026-07-22) and LBank KYC Identity Verification FAQs (2026-07-24), checked 2026-10-19. Places on all three lists include the United States, Canada, mainland China, Hong Kong (China), Macau (China), Iran, North Korea, Cuba and Syria. The User Service Agreement also states that LBank does not provide personal account services to residents of the United States and mainland China; the FAQ notes that the list of restricted countries follows LBank’s latest legal announcements, and if you can’t find your country/region during KYC, that is usually why. A comparison of restricted regions across exchanges is in exchange restricted countries.

FAQ

Can I add an LBank referral code after signing up?

No. LBank’s Referral Program FAQ states that the referral code must be entered at first registration and cannot be added or changed after registration. The “Referral Code (Optional)” field on the sign-up page is below the password field, and you need to fill it in before you click “Sign up”.

Can I trade or withdraw on LBank without KYC?

LBank’s User Service Agreement states that after registering, you must complete real-name verification before trading digital assets. The KYC FAQ says that “regions/accounts required to complete KYC” cannot deposit, trade or withdraw until verified, and LBank does not state which regions fall into that group. Completing KYC right after sign-up saves you the most trouble.

How long does LBank KYC review take?

LBank says automatic review usually takes 5–30 minutes, and complex cases go to manual review, which takes 1–3 business days. You can check progress on your account’s “Identity Verification” page; when you pass, you get a notice and the verification label turns to a green “Verified”.

Can I use a Taiwan ID card for LBank KYC?

LBank does not state this. It only says it accepts a passport, ID card or driver’s license “issued by a supported country”, and Taiwan is not on any of its three lists of unsupported countries/regions. The documents you can actually choose are the ones listed after you select the document’s country/region on the verification page; the passport is the document every official guide lists.

What should I do if my LBank KYC is rejected?

Check the reason shown on the verification page or in the rejection email, fix it, then click “Retry” to resubmit. The common reasons LBank lists are a photo that doesn’t meet requirements, a document already verified on another LBank account, a document from an unsupported country, and uploading a scan or screenshot. Each account can do KYC verification only 3 times per day, so fix the problem before you retry.

Can the same document verify two LBank accounts?

No. LBank’s KYC FAQ lists “Document already used (already verified on another LBank account)” as a rejection reason. How many accounts one person may open is not stated in LBank’s KYC guides; the User Service Agreement separately prohibits gifting, lending, renting or transferring accounts to anyone else.

Is my personal data safe with LBank KYC?

LBank says document information is used only for identity verification, that data is protected with AES-256 encryption plus multiple firewall layers, and that necessary information is shared with authorized bodies only when regulation requires it. All I can confirm is what LBank says; how well the protection actually works cannot be verified from outside.

What you can do yourself is upload documents only on lbank.com or in the official app. LBank’s Intelligent Customer Service User Guide (App) states that support will never ask for your account password, SMS verification code, Google Authenticator code, private key or seed phrase; anyone who claims they can “do your KYC for you” and asks you to send document photos by private message is not LBank. Common tactics are covered in types of crypto exchange scams.

These are the official LBank pages used in this article (dates in parentheses are the dates shown on each page; checked 2026-10-19). Every LBank article notes that if it differs from the English version, the English version prevails; I also checked the key rules against the English versions.

Once KYC is done, an overall look at the platform is in LBank review, spot and futures fee rates are in LBank fees, and how to place futures orders is in LBank futures trading guide. Futures use leverage, and if the price moves against you, your position may be forcibly liquidated and you can lose your margin. Before your first deposit or withdrawal, it’s worth reading common terms for withdrawals, crypto withdrawals and transfers; what a UID is used for is in what is an exchange UID.
