Updated Rules checked 2026-10-08

The Gate.io referral code on this page comes with an automatic fee rebate of 20%. Gate caps the share an affiliate can give direct invitees at 20%, and this code gives the full 20%.

As of 2026-10-24, signing up for Gate with referral code KEVINXYZ gives an automatic fee rebate (fee discount) of 20%, paid by Gate itself. Duration: No time limit while the referral relationship lasts (Gate affiliate program).

The referral rebate is a fee discount offered by Gate.io itself: the exchange sets the rate and pays the refund directly. What follows is information I compiled for reference.

What are Gate’s two referral schemes?

Gate runs two referral schemes with different terms for invitees:

SchemeInvitee receivesDuration
Regular user invitation (Super Commission)10%Commission period of one year
Affiliate referral codeSet by the affiliate, up to 20%No time limit while the relationship lasts

The regular scheme is described on the Gate Super Commission page. The 20% affiliate cap comes from Gate’s June 2023 announcement, and the no-time-limit rule from the Gate referral FAQ. This code is an affiliate referral code, so its rate is set by the affiliate. (Official pages checked on 2026-10-08.)

Since April 2023, Gate invitees receive a fee rebate rather than a fee discount: the full fee is charged first, and the rebate is then credited to the spot account.

How does the Gate referral program work? What the inviter and the invitee each get

In the Gate referral program, the inviter earns a commission out of the trading fees the invitee pays, and the invitee gets part of those fees back. The regular referral is open to every user and gives the invitee 10% for one year; the affiliate program (the affiliates mentioned above) requires an application and gives the invitee up to 20%, with no time limit.

Regular referral (Super Commission)

Gate account holders can invite friends with their own referral code or link, but the program isn’t open to market makers, enterprises, institutions or affiliate accounts (Gate’s March 2025 referral system announcement). When an invitee trades spot, Alpha, futures or margin, a certain percentage of the trading fee becomes the inviter’s commission; fiat trades don’t count, and the commission period is one year. The Super Commission page headline says “up to 40%”, but the rules don’t state what percentage the inviter actually receives or which coin the commission is paid in.

On timing, the announcement says commission is credited within 1–2 hours, while the Super Commission page says referral data syncs within 24 hours. When Gate changes the commission rate, the new rate applies only to users invited after the change; earlier invitations keep their original rate. Referrals don’t carry across Gate’s regional sites: if an invitee switches sites for regional reasons, the referral relationship isn’t established.

The referral page also runs an invite-friends voucher campaign. The campaign page says this reward can’t be combined with referral commission or other invitation events, and it isn’t paid if either the inviter or the invitee is an affiliate; amounts and task conditions are whatever the campaign page shows.

Affiliate program

The affiliate program requires an application. The Gate affiliate page is aimed at content creators and community owners; commission covers spot, futures, Alpha, Web3, CFD and options trading, and the page publishes no specific rate. The application form says “up to 60% long-term commissions” and asks for a Gate UID, a Telegram or other social media account and an email address; Gate staff get in touch within 24 hours. The commission has no time limit unless the referral relationship is unbound (Gate referral FAQ).

The invitee’s share comes out of the affiliate’s own commission rate: Gate’s FAQ says an affiliate who allocates their entire rate to a user receives no commission themselves (Gate help article). Since June 12, 2023, the maximum rate that can be set for direct clients has been 20%, while the affiliate’s total commission rate stayed the same. If the invitee is VIP 11 or above, or is in an observation period because the system detected cheating, their trades generate no commission; backend data lags by about an hour.

Affiliates withdraw their commission from the backend themselves. When the status shows “withdrawing”, it usually arrives in about 10 minutes; “under review” may mean a risk control was triggered (Gate help article). Gate doesn’t state which coin commission is settled in. The backend groups users into direct referrals, indirect referrals (users invited by the affiliate’s own clients) and junior affiliates. Gate’s affiliate code of conduct bans paid ads on Gate brand terms, impersonating Gate, and public promotion in regions where Gate’s services are restricted; violations can cost an affiliate their affiliate and commission eligibility.

What should you watch for when signing up on Gate?

  • Each user can sign up through one referral method only.
  • Gate says an invitation doesn’t count if the referrer and invitee share an IP address, or if the referrer’s account is less than one day old.
  • Gate documents no way to add a referral code after registration, so enter it when you sign up.

When does the Gate rebate arrive?

Gate’s invitee rebate announcement says the rebate is credited to the spot account automatically once each trade completes, or within 1–2 hours in some cases (Gate announcement). The same announcement gives the records path Wallet → Transaction History → filter “Commission”. It dates from 2023, so the menu names may have changed; follow what your app shows.

How is the Gate referral rebate calculated?

The rebate is a share of the trading fees you pay, not of your trading volume. If you pay 100 USDT in fees in a month at a 20% rebate, you get 20 USDT back that month.

Which Gate trades earn no rebate?

  • Fiat trades.
  • Users at VIP 11 or above.
  • Trades made while a user is under assessment.
  • API trades, and trades involving brokers or negative maker fees.
  • Sub-account volume, which doesn’t count towards the main account.
  • Self-invited accounts, whose commission is forfeited.

Gate sign-up bonuses (new-user tasks, trial funds) vs the referral code rebate: what’s the difference?

Gate.io’s new-user tasks, trial funds and vouchers are one-off promotions. You usually have to complete tasks such as identity verification, a deposit or a trading volume target to get them; amounts and conditions change from campaign to campaign and they expire, so the campaign page and its terms are what count. The referral code rebate is bound at sign-up, and from then on a share of every fee you actually pay is refunded automatically. It’s separate from the sign-up bonus, so you don’t have to choose one or the other.

The new-user tasks in the Gate Rewards Center include downloading the app, identity verification, a first deposit, a first trade and tiered trading volume. Rewards come as fee rebate vouchers, futures trial funds, futures trial vouchers, Earn trial funds and VIP trial cards; each verified user can claim them only once, and tasks differ by region, so the campaign page is what counts (Gate new-user task guide, published 2024-11-28, checked 2026-10-15). Futures trial funds themselves can’t be transferred or withdrawn, but profits earned with them can (Gate futures trial fund guide). As for rebate vouchers, Gate states that the part of the fee paid out as referral commission isn’t covered by the voucher (Gate rebate voucher guide), so you get both the voucher and the referral code rebate. Common questions

What does “Gate referral” mean?

“Gate referral” refers to Gate’s referral system: once you sign up with a referral code or link, a referral relationship is set up, and from then on part of the trading fees you pay comes back to you while another part counts as the inviter’s commission. Gate has two kinds: the regular user referral (Super Commission), where the invitee gets 10% for one year, and the affiliate referral code from the affiliate program, where the affiliate sets the invitee’s rate, up to 20%, with no time limit. Each user can sign up through one referral method only.

If I sign up with a Gate referral code, how much do the inviter and I each get?

Your share depends on the type of code: a regular user’s code gives 10%, and an affiliate code gives whatever the affiliate sets, up to 20%. Gate doesn’t publish a specific rate for the inviter; the Super Commission page only says up to 40%, and the affiliate application form says up to 60%.

The part an affiliate gives you comes out of their own commission rate, so the more they allocate to you, the less they keep. Both sides are calculated on the fees you actually pay, not on your trading volume. For this code, the rate shown on Gate’s sign-up page prevails.

Can the Gate referral rebate rate change?

It can. When the regular referral (Super Commission) rate changes, the new rate applies only to users invited after the change; earlier invitations keep their original rate. An affiliate code’s rate is set by the affiliate, and since June 12, 2023 Gate has capped it at 20%; an affiliate’s own rate can also change if their upline affiliate’s rate is adjusted or their recent trading falls short of the target. Past rate changes for this code are in the rebate change history above.

Does the Gate rebate expire?

Affiliate referral codes have no time limit while the referral relationship lasts; the regular user invitation pays for one year. This code is an affiliate code.

Is it a discount or a refund?

A refund. Since 2023 Gate charges the full fee and credits the rebate to your spot account after the trade.

Where does the rebate go?

To your spot account, usually as soon as the trade completes and occasionally within 1–2 hours.

Can I still add a Gate referral code after signing up?

Gate’s official pages document no process for adding one, so a Gate referral code has to be entered when you sign up. Gate’s referral rules also state that each user can sign up through one referral method only.

If you’re thinking of opening another account with a new email address, ask customer support first. What existing account holders can do is covered in the Gate referral code switch guide; for whether each exchange lets you add a code after sign-up, see can you add a referral code after signing up?

How can I check whether my Gate referral code is bound?

Gate doesn’t offer invitees a way to see their referrer, so the most direct method is to look at your rebate records: if you can see “referral rebate income”, the referral relationship is in place.

The path in Gate’s 2023 announcement is Wallet → Transaction History → Filter → Commission → referral rebate income, and the menu names may have changed since. The rebate is usually credited as soon as the trade completes, or within 1–2 hours in some cases; if nothing has appeared after 2 hours, you can give your UID to customer support to look into it. How to check on each exchange is covered in how to check whether your referral code is bound.

Is Gate safe?

No exchange can guarantee safety; what you can look at is its track record. Based on the public information compiled on this site, no major security incident at Gate was found as of 2026-10-12; in the 2026-08-19 reserve report, the BTC reserve ratio calculated from the official quantities was 122.79%.

Regulatory records such as Gate.HK withdrawing its Hong Kong license application in 2024, along with comparisons with other exchanges, are in the exchange safety record and exchange proof of reserves compared.

Can I use fee vouchers together with the referral code rebate?

Yes, and you get both. Gate states that cashback vouchers don’t apply to the part of the fee that goes to referral commission; the voucher refunds the net fee left after VIP discounts, point card payments and referral commission are deducted.

So the referral relationship works as usual, and the rebate you receive isn’t affected. Cashback vouchers have to be activated manually by tapping “Activate”; futures vouchers only apply to USDT perpetual futures and are void once they expire. For a full comparison of the two kinds of offer, see fee vouchers vs referral code rebates.
