How to Switch Your XT.COM Referral Code: No Adding It After Sign-Up, New Account Conditions and Risks (2026)

Updated Rules checked 2026-10-11

An XT.COM referral code (invite code) can only be entered at sign-up. XT’s official help pages don’t describe any process for adding a referral code or changing your referrer after you register, so once the account exists, you can’t switch referrers on it. The method you’ll often see online is to open a separate account through a new referral link, using a phone number or email address that has never been registered on XT. This guide first covers XT’s official rules, then the official conditions and risks of opening a new account, and the steps if you go through Fee Otter.

What are XT’s official rules on referrals?

XT’s referral help page only explains how a referral code is applied at sign-up: it fills in automatically when you open a referral link, or you enter it manually while registering. XT reminds users to confirm the referral code is correct before completing sign-up. If you first download the XT app through an ad or another referral channel and then register in that app, the referral may be bound to that original channel (XT referral rewards guide, XT referral and affiliate program overview). For details on signing up in the app, see can signing up in the app bind the wrong referral code.

XT’s referral program rules also state that when a referrer changes the commission split, the change applies only to users who haven’t registered yet; users who have already registered keep the split from when they signed up (XT referral program rules). We went through the referral, affiliate program and FAQ pages and found nothing about letting registered users add a referral code or change their referrer, and no process for asking support to do it either.

Already have an XT account: what conditions apply to opening a new one?

Fee Otter’s XT switching guide describes registering again through a new referral link with a phone number or email address that has never been used on XT, then moving your assets over from the old account. XT has no official guidance on this method, but the official rules below directly affect what the new account can do.

Identity verification can only be done on one account

XT’s identity verification FAQ states that each user can verify only one XT account; if you need several trading accounts, XT recommends opening sub-accounts under your verified main account. Identity verification also can’t be removed from an account on its own, and the same identity information can’t be reused or transferred to another account (XT identity verification FAQ). In other words, if your old account has already completed identity verification, the new account can’t be verified with the same ID document, and XT has no channel for transferring a verification.

Withdrawal limits and features for unverified accounts

XT’s withdrawal limits guide (updated 2026-09-26) lists these daily withdrawal limits: 200,000 USDT unverified, 10,000,000 USDT with identity verification, and 15,000,000 USDT with business verification, resetting daily at 00:00 (UTC). Fiat trading and P2P merchant applications require identity verification (XT withdrawal limits guide). An older XT announcement puts the daily limit for unverified accounts at 6,000,000 USDT, which doesn’t match the guide; go by the newer guide and the figure shown in your account under “Identity Verification → Current Limit”.

XT’s article on why identity verification is needed also says that verification is required depending on the legal requirements where you live (why XT requires identity verification). So “you can keep using the account normally without verifying” is not something XT guarantees, and the platform may ask you to verify later.

Official restrictions on multiple accounts

XT’s risk control rules state that registering multiple accounts for arbitrage, including collecting red packets, farming event rewards or trial funds, and abusing commissions, will result in a login ban, and any improper gains found will be confiscated (XT risk control rules). XT doesn’t state whether one person opening a second account just to change referrers falls under this rule. XT’s user agreement says accounts can’t be gifted, lent, rented or transferred to anyone else, and the platform has the right to disable an account if the person actually using it isn’t the original registrant (XT user agreement). Never open an account with a family member’s or anyone else’s phone number or ID document.

Deleting your account and signing up again doesn’t work

XT’s account deletion guide states that deletion can’t be undone, the same email, phone number and ID document can’t be used to register a new account, and no rewards are paid out after deletion (XT account deletion guide). Deleting the old account won’t give you a clean identity; instead, that ID document can no longer be verified on XT afterward.

Sub-accounts can’t be used to change referrers

XT’s sub-account FAQ states that sub-accounts share the main account’s identity verification, can’t generate referral codes, and aren’t eligible for referral activities; to withdraw from a sub-account, you first have to transfer the assets back to the main account (XT sub-account FAQ). Opening a sub-account doesn’t change your referrer.

How do you confirm your new XT account is bound to the right referral code?

  1. Before you submit the sign-up form, check that the referral code field shows the code you want. It can’t be changed once the account is created.
  2. After trading on the new account, go to “Spot Account” → “Funding Records” → “Distribution” to check. XT states that invitees’ rebates show up as “Futures/Spot Cashback” and are credited to the spot account the day after the trade (T+1) (XT affiliate program FAQ).
  3. If you still don’t see a rebate the next day, go through what to do if your referral rebate hasn’t arrived. The lookup paths for each exchange are in the referral code lookup guide.

How do you switch on XT through Fee Otter?

  1. Read the official conditions above first: if your old account has completed identity verification, the new account can’t be verified and is limited to unverified limits and features.
  2. Using a phone number or email address in your own name that has never been registered on XT, sign up through Fee Otter’s XT sign-up link. The referral code is FEEOTTER; check the field before you submit.
  3. Sign up for Fee Otter and bind the new account’s UID. Binding needs only your UID, never your password, a verification code or an API key.
  4. Withdraw your assets from the old account to the new one, choosing the same network on both sides; for large amounts, keep the new account’s daily withdrawal limit in mind.

Fee Otter’s rebate page lists XT.COM at 70% (60% automatic from the exchange + 10% extra from Fee Otter); the exchange’s automatic fee rebate is 60% for futures and 35% for spot (checked 2026-10-11). The extra rebate is paid by Fee Otter, not the exchange, and not Kevin Wu; for how rebate sites differ, see how to choose a rebate site. To use only the referral code without a rebate site, see XT.COM referral code.

What are the risks of switching on XT?

  • Fees paid on the old account aren’t counted retroactively: rebates count only fees generated on the new account after it was registered.
  • Multiple accounts may trigger risk controls: XT prohibits registering multiple accounts for arbitrage or commission abuse, and violations may lead to a login ban and confiscated gains. XT doesn’t state whether simply changing referrers is allowed; if you’re unsure, ask XT support first.
  • The new account may not be able to verify your identity: one ID document can verify only one account, so the new account is held to the unverified withdrawal limit and can’t use fiat trading or P2P merchant features.
  • Short-term trades lose their rebates: XT’s risk control rules state that any single trade opened and closed within 60 seconds gets no rebate, and if more than 60% of trades are opened and closed within 3 minutes, or more than 75% within 5 minutes, the platform can withhold commission. See common reasons rebates get cancelled.
  • Don’t hand over your account details: never give anyone who asks for your password, a verification code or an API key; see how to spot a rebate scam.

FAQ

Can I change my XT.COM referral code?

Not on the original account. No process for changing referrers was found in XT’s official help pages; the referral is set at sign-up.

Can I add an XT.COM referral code after signing up?

No official way to add one was found, and no deadline for adding one is stated either. XT only reminds users to confirm the referral code is filled in before completing sign-up. For each exchange’s rules on adding a code later, see can you add a referral code after sign-up.

Does the new account have to complete identity verification?

Under XT’s withdrawal limits guide, unverified accounts can withdraw 200,000 USDT a day, but fiat trading and P2P merchant applications require verification first; XT also says verification may be required depending on the laws where you live. If your old account is already verified, the same ID document can’t be used to verify the new account.

How much rebate do I get after switching?

It depends on the referral link you used to register the new account. XT states that from 2024-08-20, referral commission for regular users was adjusted to 20%, shared between the referrer and the invitee (XT referral commission adjustment announcement); affiliate partners’ rates are set separately, such as the figures on Fee Otter’s rebate page above.

Can I change referrers by deleting my XT account and signing up again?

No. XT’s account deletion guide states that deletion can’t be undone, the same email, phone number and ID document can’t be used to register a new account, and no rewards are paid out after deletion.

How long does an XT rebate take to arrive after switching?

The exchange’s automatic rebate is credited to your spot account the day after the trade (T+1). XT states that invitees’ rebates show up as “Futures/Spot Cashback”, which you can check under “Spot Account” → “Funding Records” → “Distribution”. If you still don’t see it the next day, go through what to do if a rebate doesn’t arrive.

Whether each exchange allows switching, and the process involved, is covered in how to switch referral codes on exchanges; for every exchange’s referral code, see crypto exchange referral codes.
