How to Switch Your WEEX Referral Code: No Changes After Sign-Up, New Account Conditions and Risks (2026)

Updated Rules checked 2026-10-11

On WEEX, you can only enter a referral code when you sign up. WEEX’s official sign-up guide states that the referral relationship can’t be changed once registration succeeds, and its official pages don’t show any way to add a code later or change referrers. So “switching” on WEEX doesn’t mean changing your old account: it means opening a second account with a new referral code, using a phone number or email address that has never been registered on WEEX. This works, but WEEX’s user agreement allows each person only one account (unless WEEX agrees otherwise). Below are the official rules, plus the conditions and risks of opening a new account.

Not signed up for WEEX yet: when do you enter the referral code?

WEEX’s sign-up guide describes the process like this: enter the verification code sent to your phone or email, set a password, optionally enter an invite code, tick the user agreement and submit. The same page reminds you to confirm with your referrer before entering their referrer ID, because the referral relationship can’t be changed once registration succeeds (WEEX sign-up guide). Before you submit, make sure the invite code field contains the referral code you want. If you only want a referral code without going through a rebate site, see WEEX referral code.

Already signed up for WEEX: can the old account’s referral be changed?

Whether or not you entered a referral code originally, WEEX has no public page for adding one later and no request process for changing referrers. The only line in WEEX’s official guides about the referral relationship is that it “can’t be changed after successful registration”, and its affiliate terms contain no clause that lets ordinary users change their own referrer (WEEX partner program terms). WEEX also has no public rule, like some exchanges do, that reassigns an account after a period of inactivity.

The only option: a new account with an unregistered phone number or email

WEEX accounts are registered with a phone number or email address, and using your old one just logs you back into the old account. To put a new account under a new referrer, you need a phone number or email address that has never been used on WEEX, and you sign up through the referral link. Know these official rules before you open a new account:

  • One account per person: section 2.2(a) of the WEEX user agreement says “unless we agree, you may not hold more than one account” (WEEX user agreement). Keeping both the old and the new account doesn’t, strictly speaking, comply with this clause. The safer approach is to ask WEEX support first, or to move all assets out of the old account and then deactivate or delete it.
  • Farming rebates with multiple accounts counts as abnormal trading: WEEX’s rules on abnormal trading list “using multiple devices or accounts to farm trading fees, rebates or bonuses” as abnormal behavior, and all illicit gains are deducted once it’s detected. Registration times close together, the same registration IP and the same deposit or withdrawal addresses are all used to identify linked accounts (WEEX abnormal trading monitoring standards and handling rules). Once you’ve moved to the new account, don’t trade on both accounts at the same time or hedge one against the other.
  • Don’t use someone else’s identity: the user agreement states that if you register with another person’s identity details without authorization, WEEX can terminate its services and cancel your registration. The new account must be your own.

Identity verification (KYC) on the new account

WEEX’s KYC rules say the platform will require identity verification based on your user level (WEEX identity verification (KYC) rules), so you can’t count on skipping KYC. For withdrawals, the WEEX VIP benefits table lists two 24-hour withdrawal limits, one for basic verification and one for advanced verification: 10,000 USDT and 1,000,000 USDT respectively for VIP 0 (WEEX VIP benefits). WEEX doesn’t state how much an account with no verification at all can withdraw.

If you’ve already completed KYC on the old account, pay special attention: WEEX’s KYC guide lists “the same ID document or facial data has already been used by another account” as one of the reasons verification fails (WEEX KYC verification guide). In other words, redoing KYC on the new account with the same ID may not pass. Fee Otter’s guide says you can contact support in the app from the new account and have the old account’s KYC transferred over. WEEX hasn’t published this KYC transfer process, so whether it can be done, and under what conditions, depends on what support tells you.

What to do with the old account

On the old account, close your positions and cancel open orders first, then withdraw your assets to the new account’s deposit address. Send a small test amount first and make sure the coin and network match. To delete the account, tap the top-left corner of the app’s home screen and go to “Personal Center” → “Security Center” → “Delete Account”. Review usually takes 1 business day, and once it’s approved, logging out completes the process. WEEX states that you can’t log in again after deletion, that you must transfer out all funds first, and that deleting an account doesn’t automatically clear its linked details; to change linked details you have to contact support (How to delete a WEEX account). So WEEX hasn’t said that signing up again with the same phone number or email after deletion works, and you shouldn’t count on it.

How do you confirm your WEEX switch worked?

WEEX doesn’t state where users can see their own referrer. Its official affiliate FAQ says the referrer sees the invitee’s UID in its own affiliate dashboard; if it doesn’t show up, first check that the user signed up through the correct link and that the UID is correct (WEEX affiliate FAQ). The most direct way to confirm is to bind the new account’s UID on the rebate site: if it’s approved, the new account is under that referrer. For other exchanges, see the referral code lookup guide.

How do you switch on WEEX through Fee Otter?

  1. Get a phone number or email address that has never been registered on WEEX, and sign up through the WEEX sign-up link on Fee Otter’s rebate page. The invite code is otter123; check that it’s filled in before submitting.
  2. Log in to the new account and copy your UID.
  3. Sign up for Fee Otter, choose WEEX, paste the new account’s UID and submit. Binding needs only your UID, never your password, a verification code or an API key.
  4. Once approved, trade on the new account; your rebate history will appear on your Fee Otter member page.

Fee Otter’s rebate page lists WEEX at 70% (60% automatic from the exchange + 10% extra from Fee Otter), which is the futures rate; the exchange’s automatic rebate for spot is 35% (checked 2026-10-11). The extra rebate is paid by Fee Otter, not the exchange, and not Kevin Wu.

What are the risks of switching on WEEX?

  • Multiple accounts break the user agreement: keeping the old and new accounts at the same time violates the rule that you “may not hold more than one account”, and WEEX can restrict or terminate accounts under its terms.
  • Being flagged for abnormal trading: WEEX’s abnormal trading rules state that accounts in violation may have commissions deducted and withdrawals restricted, and may be required to complete KYC or video verification before they’re restored. A withdrawal restriction from a yellow-card warning can only be appealed after 14 days with no new warnings and no newly opened accounts.
  • The new account starts from zero: your VIP level, trading volume, API keys and copy trading settings don’t carry over, and fees paid before the switch aren’t counted for rebates retroactively.
  • A rebate site is a third party: Fee Otter is an overseas third party. It may change its rates or rules, or stop operating, and if the exchange claws back commission, Fee Otter can also claw back rebates it has already paid.
  • Give only your UID: never give your password, a verification code or an API key to anyone who asks for them; see how to spot a rebate scam.

FAQ

Can I change my WEEX referral code?

No. WEEX’s sign-up guide states that the referral relationship can’t be changed after successful registration, and there’s no official request process for changing referrers. If you want a different referrer, the only option is to open another account with a phone number or email that has never been registered, and accept the multiple-account risks described above.

Can I add a WEEX referral code after signing up?

No official way to do this was found. The invite code field on the sign-up page is optional and can only be filled in at the moment you register, so decide which referral code to use before you sign up.

Do I have to redo KYC to switch on WEEX?

WEEX doesn’t state that a new account must complete KYC right away, but it will require verification based on your user level, and withdrawal limits differ by verification level. If you’ve done KYC on the old account, the same ID may not work on the new account, so ask support first whether it can be transferred.

How much rebate do I get after switching on WEEX?

It depends on which referral code you bind. Through Fee Otter, its rebate page lists 70% for futures (60% automatic from the exchange + 10% extra from Fee Otter) and a 35% automatic rebate from the exchange for spot (checked 2026-10-11). Rebates are calculated from fees generated after the new account is bound; fees from the old account aren’t counted retroactively.

After deleting my old WEEX account, can I sign up again with the same email?

WEEX doesn’t say you can, so don’t treat it as a way to switch. WEEX’s account deletion guide states that you can’t log in again after deletion, and that deletion doesn’t automatically clear your binding information; to change it, you have to contact support.

Do I need to give my password or an API key to switch on WEEX?

No. Binding a new account on a rebate site needs only your UID, never your password, a verification code or an API key. Don’t give these to anyone who asks for them; see how to spot a rebate scam.

Whether other exchanges let you add a code later, and how to switch, is covered in how to switch referral codes and adding a referral code after sign-up. If your rebates don’t arrive after switching, check what to do if you haven’t received your rebate.
