How to Switch Your Bitget Referral Code: No Adding One After Sign-Up, and the 30-Day Rule After Account Deletion (2026)

Updated Rules checked 2026-10-11

Bitget has no official way to switch. We found no feature in Bitget’s official Help Center for adding a referral code after sign-up, and no rules for affiliate switch requests, transferring identity verification (KYC), or reassigning the referrer after a period of inactivity. Bitget’s affiliate announcement also states that inviting users who are already registered is not recognized. A referral code can only be entered at sign-up. If you already have an account, the only approach that fits the official rules is to delete it, wait 30 days and sign up again, and that comes at a real cost. This guide covers Bitget’s official rules, the conditions and risks of each approach, and the steps involved if you go through Fee Otter.

Do you have to enter a Bitget referral code at sign-up?

Bitget’s affiliate page describes the process like this: a new user who signs up with an affiliate’s link or referral code becomes that affiliate’s direct referral (Bitget Affiliate Program). As long as it complies with the platform’s rules, the referral relationship stays in effect long term, and the rebate rate has no expiry date (Bitget affiliate FAQ).

We found no feature in the Bitget exchange’s Help Center for adding a referral code after sign-up. The “add an invite code within 7 days” rule you may see online belongs to Bitget Wallet (the Web3 wallet) and has nothing to do with Bitget exchange accounts, so don’t mix them up. Also, since January 1, 2024, Bitget has required identity verification before you can use core services such as deposits and trading (Bitget individual verification FAQ), so complete KYC right after you sign up.

Before you tap submit on the sign-up page, check that the referral code field holds the code you want. Bitget offers no official way to add or change it later, so once you submit, it can’t be changed.

Already registered on Bitget: can you still change referrers?

Bitget’s affiliate announcement lists the rules affiliates must follow. One of them reads: “any act of inviting already-registered users, or any fraudulent act, will not be recognized.” Affiliates caught doing so lose their affiliate status and have their rebate rate set to 0. The same announcement states that invitations from the same IP address or device are treated as self-invitations, and Bitget reserves the right to confiscate the accounts involved and the funds in them (Bitget announcement on joining the Affiliate Program, 2026-10-08).

So if you already have a Bitget account, a new affiliate can’t “invite” you again. We found no official rules for switch requests, transferring KYC to a new account, or reassigning the referrer after an account has been inactive for a while. Below are the approaches people often mention, along with the relevant official rules.

Deleting your account and signing up again after 30 days

This is the approach Fee Otter’s Bitget switching guide recommends. Bitget’s account deletion guide lists these conditions (How to delete my Bitget account):

  • Before deletion: all positions must be closed or liquidated, all funds withdrawn with no withdrawals pending, and any Earn, staking or other subscriptions ended first.
  • No recovery: once submitted, the request is reviewed within 24 hours and the account is permanently disabled; your trading history and verified identity information are permanently deleted and can’t be looked up afterward.
  • 30-day waiting period: after deletion you have to wait 30 days before you can register a new account with the same phone number, email or ID document.
  • Other effects: the original account can no longer claim the related rewards or trial funds; if you opened a bank account through Bitget’s bank transfer feature, a new account under the same ID document will no longer be able to use that feature.

Bitget allows you to sign up again after the waiting period, but it doesn’t state whether the new account can be bound to a new referrer normally, or whether it will be treated as an “already-registered user.” Fee Otter’s page also says that for KYC with a Chinese identity, support can lift the 30-day waiting period; we found no such rule in Bitget’s official pages. The cost of this approach is losing your entire trading history and being unable to open an account with the same details for at least 30 days. This site doesn’t recommend deleting your account just to change referrers. If you do go ahead, first ask Bitget support how the referral will be handled after you sign up again.

Opening a second account, or using a different ID document

This doesn’t work on Bitget. The individual verification FAQ states that each user can verify only one Bitget account, and multiple accounts using the same ID document will be rejected; if you need multiple trading accounts, Bitget suggests opening sub-accounts under your verified main account (Bitget individual verification FAQ). The terms of use also state that individual users may not hold multiple accounts, and opening multiple accounts without written consent or abusing promotions are both grounds for Bitget to suspend or restrict an account (Bitget terms of use). Opening a new account with a different ID document still means one person holds two accounts.

Sub-accounts aren’t a way to switch either. A sub-account can’t complete identity verification on its own; its verified permissions are inherited from the main account. Bitget doesn’t state officially that a sub-account can have its own referrer.

Resetting identity verification and verifying on a new account

Bitget has a “Reset identity verification” feature, but the uses it officially lists are personal detail changes such as a change of nationality, a lost or updated ID document, or a change in the language of your name. After a reset, the original account becomes unverified and can’t deposit, withdraw or trade. Verifying again on the same UID has no restrictions, while verifying on a different UID requires review and approval plus a 30-day wait (How to reset Bitget identity verification). Bitget doesn’t treat this as a way to change referrers, and the original account still exists, which conflicts with the rule that individual users may not hold multiple accounts. This site doesn’t recommend it.

Don’t open an account with a family member’s or friend’s identity details. Registering with someone else’s identity breaks the exchange’s rules, and both the account and its assets may run into problems.

How do you confirm your Bitget referral code is bound?

We found no official Bitget page where regular users can see their own referrer. In practice there are two ways to check: if the referral code itself comes with an automatic fee rebate from the exchange, see whether your account receives rebates after you trade; if you bound a rebate site, bind your UID on the rebate site, and the whole process is complete only once that’s approved and rebates start showing up in your history. You can find your UID in your profile after logging in to Bitget. For other exchanges, see the referral code lookup guide.

Steps through Fee Otter

  1. No Bitget account yet: sign up through Fee Otter’s Bitget sign-up link, the partner.bitget.com sign-up page. The referral code is FEEOTTER; check that the field is filled in before submitting, then complete identity verification.
  2. Already have a Bitget account: there’s no official way to add or switch a code, so read the conditions and risks under “Deleting your account and signing up again after 30 days” above before you decide whether to do it.
  3. Sign up for Fee Otter and bind your Bitget UID. It needs only your UID, never your password, a verification code or an API key.
  4. Rebates usually show up in your Fee Otter history after the exchange’s daily report is imported (the next day); if nothing appears after more than two days, give your UID to support so they can check.

Fee Otter’s rebate page lists Bitget at 50% (a 20% automatic fee rebate from the exchange + a 30% extra rebate from Fee Otter) (checked 2026-10-11), and the page labels it as the futures rebate rate. The extra 30% is paid by Fee Otter, not the exchange, and not Kevin Wu. To use only the referral code without a rebate site, see Bitget referral code.

What are the risks of switching on Bitget?

  • No second chance: a referral code can only be entered at sign-up, and if you enter the wrong one or leave it blank, Bitget offers no official way to change it.
  • Account deletion can’t be undone: the account, trading history and identity information are permanently deleted, and you can’t sign up again with the same phone number, email or ID document for 30 days; Bitget also doesn’t guarantee that the new account can be bound to a new referrer.
  • Multiple accounts break the terms: each person can verify only one account, and the terms of use prohibit individuals from holding multiple accounts; invitations from the same IP or device are treated as self-invitations, and Bitget reserves the right to confiscate the accounts and funds involved.
  • Some trades don’t earn rebates: Bitget states that zero-fee pairs generate no commission; for trades that use fee rebate vouchers, the commission is paid in vouchers instead; and trades at special rates such as VIP discounts are calculated on the actual net fee.
  • Rebate sites are third parties: Fee Otter may change its rates or rules, or may shut down. Binding needs only your UID; never give your password, a verification code or an API key to anyone who asks. See how to spot a rebate scam.

FAQ

Can I change my Bitget referral code?

We found no official way to change a referral code or switch referrers. Bitget’s affiliate announcement states that inviting already-registered users is not recognized, so an account that’s already registered can’t be moved to another affiliate.

Can I add a Bitget referral code after signing up?

We found no official feature on the Bitget exchange for adding one, and no deadline for it either. The “add within 7 days” rule mentioned online is a Bitget Wallet rule and doesn’t apply to exchange accounts. The deadlines for adding a code on other exchanges are in can you add a referral code after sign-up.

How long after deleting a Bitget account can I sign up again?

30 days. Bitget states that after deleting an account, you have to wait 30 days before you can register a new account with the same phone number, email or ID document. Before deletion you must close your positions and withdraw all funds, and once deleted, the account can’t be recovered.

How many Bitget accounts can one person open?

One. Each user can verify only one Bitget account, and the terms of use also state that individual users may not hold multiple accounts. If you need to keep activity separate, Bitget suggests opening sub-accounts under your main account.

How much rebate do I get after switching?

It depends on which referrer you bind. Bitget calculates commission on the net fees the invited user actually generates and settles the previous day’s commission daily; if you bind Fee Otter, the rate is in “Steps through Fee Otter” above. Bitget doesn’t say that fees paid before binding are counted retroactively, so assume only trades after binding count. If you haven’t received a rebate, see what to do if your referral rebate hasn’t arrived.

Each exchange’s switching rules are in how to switch your referral code, and for an exchange with an official switching channel, see how to switch your Binance referral code; whether signing up with a referral code affects VIP is covered in VIP and referral rebates; the differences between rebate sites are in how to choose a rebate site; and referral codes for other exchanges are in crypto exchange referral codes.
