Updated Rules checked 2026-10-11
An OKX referral code can only be entered at sign-up; it can’t be added once the account exists. If you want your account bound to a particular affiliate, OKX offers two official routes. The first is a switch request: you use a recall link from the affiliate, or enter the affiliate’s channel ID on the switch page, and the system reviews it automatically against criteria that aren’t public. The second is reassignment: after 180 days of inactivity, you log in through a new affiliate’s link. This guide covers how each route works, how to check the result, the risks of deleting your account and signing up again, and the steps for switching to this site or switching through Fee Otter.
The official rules below were checked on 2026-10-11 and are provided for reference.
Can you switch your OKX referral code?
| Your situation | Can you switch? | How |
|---|---|---|
| Not signed up yet | No switch needed | Sign up through the affiliate’s link, or fill in the referral code field |
| Already signed up without a referral code | You can’t add one, but you can switch under certain conditions | Submit a switch request; the system reviews it automatically |
| You already have a referrer and want a different one | Yes, under certain conditions | Submit a switch request, or log in through a new link after 180 days of inactivity |
| You want to delete your account and sign up again with a new referral code | Not recommended | OKX states this may be treated as a violation, affecting your account and your eligibility for rewards |
| You want to use a different ID document or move your identity verification to another account | Not possible | OKX states that each ID document can be linked to only one account and identity information can’t be transferred |
Situation 1: not signed up for OKX yet. When do you enter the referral code?
OKX’s referral program FAQ states that a referral code has to be entered before you finish signing up and can’t be added afterward; once registration is complete, a referral usually can’t be added or changed (OKX referral program FAQ, questions 13 and 17). If you sign up on your phone by downloading the app separately and registering there, the referral code in the link may not carry over; see what to do if your app sign-up missed the referral code. For signing up directly with a referral code and the rebate you get, see OKX referral code.
Situation 2: already signed up for OKX. How do you submit a switch request?
OKX’s affiliate FAQ (EEA version) states that if you forgot to enter a referral code at sign-up, you can’t add it later and have to go through the switch process instead; if you’re already bound to an affiliate and want a different one, the process is the same (OKX affiliate FAQ (EEA version), updated 2026-10-01).
How to apply
- Prerequisite: the affiliate you want to switch to must have the Win Back Invitation feature under Marketing Centre → Reconnect users in their dashboard. If they don’t have it, no request you send will succeed.
- Submit your request one of two ways. Method A (recommended by OKX): ask the affiliate to generate a Win Back Invitation link and send it to you. Open it, log in to OKX, confirm the pre-filled invite code (it can’t be edited), give your reason for joining and submit. Method B: open the OKX switch page and enter the affiliate’s channel ID yourself. This page is the same for everyone; it isn’t a personal link. To switch to this site, enter
KEVINWUas the channel ID; this site’s channel ID is the same as its invite code. - The system reviews your eligibility automatically, usually within 24 hours, and notifies you of the result.
OKX also states that links starting with okx.com/join/ are referral links that only work for brand-new sign-ups; they can’t be used to switch an existing account.
Review criteria and limits
- The full criteria aren’t public: OKX states that it doesn’t publish individual criteria. Any criteria circulating elsewhere don’t come from an official source, so don’t use them to judge whether you qualify.
- Three things you can check yourself: whether the affiliate has Win Back Invitation enabled; whether 30 days have passed since your last request; and whether you entered the affiliate’s channel ID. OKX says entering a referral code or community name instead is the most common reason requests fail; to switch to this site, just enter
KEVINWU. - 30-day cooldown: counted from the day you submit. Whatever the result of the first request, you have to wait the full 30 days before submitting again. Submitting repeatedly won’t speed things up.
- No cancellations, no support intervention: a request can’t be cancelled once submitted. Support can’t manually assign or change your affiliate, can’t review or overturn the result, and won’t tell you the specific reason if you’re rejected.
- Available only in some regions: OKX’s affiliate rules state that the feature for inviting existing users is available only in some regions, and a switch also has to meet platform rules and eligibility requirements (OKX affiliate rules). Whether your account can use it depends on what the page shows when you submit.
OKX’s global affiliate FAQ still says “once a channel attribution is assigned, it can’t be changed,” which doesn’t match what the switch process describes. Whether you can actually switch comes down to the review result on the switch page.
Situation 3: is your OKX referrer reassigned after 180 days of inactivity?
OKX’s affiliate rules say that users with no deposits, trades, or withdrawals or transfers in the past 180 days count as “churned users.” If such a user logs in through an affiliate’s link (opening the OKX app directly doesn’t count), a new channel relationship is created and the system automatically removes the original referral. The global affiliate FAQ words it as more than 180 days with no deposits, trades or logins. Since the two pages differ, the safest approach is to do nothing at all on the account for those 180 days, not even log in.
This route needs no review, but you have to leave the account untouched for six months. Bybit has a similar 180-day inactivity rule; see how to switch your Bybit referral code.
Can you change referrers on OKX by deleting your account and signing up again, or by moving your identity verification?
Fee Otter’s OKX switching guide lists a third approach: users outside mainland China can sign up again once they close their phone number and email for the first time, and closing an account for the first time releases its identity verification so it can be verified on a new account. OKX’s official rules conflict with this:
- The EEA version of the affiliate FAQ states: don’t close your account and sign up again just to use a referral code, because this may be treated as a violation and affect your account and your eligibility for rewards. OKX repeats this warning specifically for users whose switch request was rejected.
- The global affiliate FAQ states: you’re not allowed to change your affiliate attribution by deleting your account and creating a new one.
- Question 14 of the referral program FAQ states: deleting your account and signing up again won’t restore your original referral, referral eligibility or new-user reward eligibility; registering multiple accounts, or using someone else’s account or identity information, violates the program rules.
- The OKX account closure guide states: a closed account can never be recovered. For an account that completed identity verification, there’s a cooling-off period after closure (3 days in South Korea, 30 days in Türkiye, 7 days elsewhere), during which the same email address, phone number and identity information can’t be used to sign up. Assets you haven’t withdrawn are forfeited and can’t be recovered. OKX doesn’t mention any different rule for a “first closure.”
Opening a second account and verifying it with a different ID document won’t work either. The OKX multiple accounts FAQ states that each user can register only one account under the same legal entity, and each ID document can be linked to only one account, whether it’s a national ID card or a passport; once an account is verified, its identity information can’t be merged, transferred or unlinked. Going by OKX’s own wording, there is no way to transfer identity verification on OKX. This site doesn’t recommend deleting your account and signing up again to change referrers, and you shouldn’t open another account with someone else’s identity information.
How do you confirm your OKX switch worked?
- Check the Invite perks page: 24 hours after submitting, go to User Center → Account Info → Invite perks. If the invite code shown is the one you applied for, the switch worked. If it’s still the old one, or the field isn’t there, the request didn’t go through.
- Check the rebate rate: the same page shows the rebate rate that currently applies to you. If it shows 0%, you’re still bound; that channel just hasn’t set a rebate.
- Check the rebate history: rebates are returned one by one; you can see them under Assets → Order center → Funding history.
Where to check your referrer on other exchanges is covered in the referral code lookup guide. If you’re bound but still haven’t received a rebate, the common reasons are covered in what to do if a rebate doesn’t arrive.
How do you switch your OKX referral code to this site?
- If you don’t have an OKX account yet, just sign up with this site’s referral code; no switch is needed. See OKX referral code for how.
- If you already have an account, first check the conditions above: 30 days have passed since your last request, and you don’t plan to close your account and sign up again.
- Log in to OKX, open the OKX switch page, enter
KEVINWUas the channel ID, give your reason for joining and submit. - Wait for the system review, usually within 24 hours. Then go to User Center → Account Info → Invite perks. If the invite code shown is
KEVINWU, the switch worked.
Once the switch works, the exchange’s automatic rebate is counted from trades made after it takes effect; fees paid before the switch aren’t counted retroactively. For the rebate rate on this site’s OKX referral code and how to check it, see OKX referral code.
How do you switch on OKX through Fee Otter?
- If you don’t have an OKX account yet, just sign up through Fee Otter’s OKX sign-up link; no switch is needed.
- If you already have an account, sign up for Fee Otter and contact its support to get the OKX numeric channel ID (or a Win Back Invitation link).
- Enter the channel ID on the OKX switch page, or open the recall link and confirm the invite code, then submit the request yourself.
- Check the Invite perks page 24 hours later. Once the switch has worked, bind your UID on Fee Otter. Only your UID is needed, never your password, a verification code or an API key.
Fee Otter’s rebate page lists OKX at 20% (the exchange’s automatic 20% plus a Fee Otter “exclusive reward,” whose details you have to get from its support) (checked 2026-10-11). The exclusive reward is paid by Fee Otter, not the exchange, and not Kevin Wu. Fee Otter’s guide differs from OKX’s official wording in two places. It says an official switch “usually requires an account older than 90 days with trading volume below a threshold over the past 90 days,” while OKX says the criteria aren’t public and that circulating criteria don’t come from an official source. And its Method 2 steps treat an okx.com/join/ link as the switch URL, while OKX states that such links only apply to brand-new sign-ups. Go by OKX’s official rules.
What are the risks of switching on OKX?
- Your old channel’s rebate doesn’t carry over: OKX states that switching doesn’t carry the original channel’s rebate rate over to the new one. What you get after switching depends on whether the new affiliate has set a rebate, so check with them before you submit. OKX also doesn’t say that fees paid before the switch are counted retroactively.
- The new-user reward clock doesn’t restart: new-user tasks are counted from your sign-up date, not the switch date, and once the deadline passes they don’t reopen.
- Rebates have a limited scope: the EEA version of the FAQ states that rebates are calculated on net fees, and quick Buy/Sell and Convert don’t count; some countries have extra restrictions, for example no rebates are offered in Spain. For high-volume traders, see referral rebates for VIP users.
- Commission may be cancelled: if you’re found to have broken the rules or inflated volume, your rebates may be cancelled. Fee Otter is a third party and could also stop operating; see rebate cancellation rules.
- Don’t hand over account access: you submit the switch yourself on OKX’s page. Ignore anyone who asks for your password, a verification code or an API key; see how to spot a rebate scam.
FAQ
Can I change my OKX referral code?
Not directly, but there are two official channels: submit a switch request (reviewed automatically, criteria not public, available only in some regions), or, after 180 days of inactivity, log in through a new affiliate’s link to be reassigned.
Can I add a referral code after signing up for OKX?
No. A referral code only takes effect at sign-up and can’t be added once the account exists. To bind to an affiliate, you have to submit a switch request.
What if my OKX switch request is rejected?
OKX doesn’t give a reason, and support can’t re-review it. Make sure the affiliate has Win Back Invitation enabled and that the channel ID you entered is correct, then apply again once 30 days have passed. Don’t close your account and sign up again because of a rejection.
How much rebate do I get after switching on OKX?
It depends on the rebate rate the new affiliate set on its invite code, which you can see on the Invite perks page after switching. Fee Otter’s rebate page lists OKX at 20% (the exchange’s automatic 20% plus a Fee Otter “exclusive reward”) (checked 2026-10-11). For using just a referral code without a rebate site, see OKX referral code.
Does switching affect my VIP level?
No. OKX states that affiliate attribution, rebates and fee tiers are separate, and switching doesn’t affect your VIP or trading volume tier.
For a comparison of switching rules across exchanges, see the guide to switching referral codes; for the deadlines to add a code, see can you add a referral code after sign-up. For other exchanges’ referral codes and automatic fee rebates, see the exchange referral code overview; for how rebate sites differ, see how to choose a rebate site.
