How to Switch Your Bybit Referral Code: Adding an Affiliate Code Within 14 Days, Identity Transfer and Inactivity Reassignment (2026)

Updated Rules checked 2026-10-11

Switching a referral code on Bybit means adding an affiliate after you’ve already signed up, or replacing your current referrer. In short: an account registered less than 14 days ago that has no referrer yet can add an affiliate’s code itself. After 14 days, or once you have a referrer, Bybit has no feature that lets users change it themselves, and the only route Bybit states officially is reassignment after 180 days of inactivity. The often-mentioned “transfer your identity to a new account” is a real Bybit feature. This site has confirmed that the affiliate code the new account was registered with stays valid after it receives the identity; Bybit’s help pages just don’t say so. This guide uses Bybit’s official rules to cover what you can do in each situation and the risks involved.

Fee Otter extra rebate40%

Bybit has no automatic exchange rebate. This extra rebate is paid by Fee Otter, not by the exchange and not by Kevin Wu; the rate is whatever Fee Otter's page shows (checked 2026-10-22).

The official rules below were checked on 2026-10-11 and are provided for reference.

Can you add an affiliate code on Bybit within 14 days of sign-up?

Bybit lets you manually add an affiliate’s code within 14 days of sign-up. The conditions: a main account, no current affiliate or referrer, and not a market maker or institutional account. Referral codes from other Bybit users (Referral Program) can’t be added this way, and requests made after 14 days aren’t accepted (Bybit guide to adding an affiliate code).

  1. Go to Profile → Account → Account Info and click “Join an Affiliate’s Community”. If you don’t see this option, your account doesn’t qualify.
  2. Enter the affiliate’s code and your reason for adding it, read the disclaimer, and submit. If you’re adding Fee Otter, Fee Otter’s instructions say to enter its numeric affiliate ID 163627, not the sign-up code FEEOTTER.
  3. Once it succeeds, you return to the Account Info page. After you add a code, it can’t be cancelled or changed.

Bybit also notes that, because of regulatory requirements, some accounts may not be able to join the affiliate community you enter.

More than 14 days, or you already have a referrer: can you still switch on Bybit?

Bybit has no feature that lets users change their own referrer, and no switch request like some other exchanges offer. The only way Bybit officially states that a referral can change is the inactivity rule below. Two other methods that come up often online are also listed afterward, with what Bybit’s official rules say about them.

Method 1: reassignment after 180 days of inactivity (stated officially)

Under section 7.7 of Bybit’s affiliate terms, users who registered after 2025-09-01 and trade less than 1 USD over any 180 consecutive days after registering are treated as inactive. If an inactive user enters Bybit through another affiliate’s link and resumes trading, future commission counts under that affiliate.

  • It applies only to accounts registered after 2025-09-01; the terms don’t cover accounts registered earlier.
  • If you trade 1 USD or more within the 180 days, the count starts over.
  • Click the new affiliate’s link and log in first, then start trading. The terms also have a “recall” mechanism: if an inactive user goes straight back to Bybit and resumes trading, the original affiliate can, within 180 days, ask the user to manually enter its affiliate code and take the relationship back.
  • Bybit reserves the right to modify or end this rule at any time.

Bybit’s affiliate program FAQ puts it this way: if a user doesn’t trade for 180 consecutive days, the affiliate relationship “may” be terminated.

Method 2: transfer your identity to a new account (an official feature; the new account’s affiliate code stays valid)

Bybit has an official identity transfer feature that moves a completed individual identity verification to another account. The path is Identity Verification → “Verify Now” → “Identity Transfer”. You go through facial recognition or a security check, then enter the registered email address or phone number of the target account. The conditions and limits Bybit lists (Bybit identity transfer guide):

  • You can use it only once 24 hours have passed since you completed identity verification. The receiving account must be unverified. It covers individual verification only, not business-verified accounts.
  • For 24 hours after the transfer, neither account can withdraw or use fiat products. The old account goes back to unverified, and its assets can still be withdrawn on-chain after 24 hours.
  • You can’t transfer if you hold fiat assets and have an active P2P order or ad; if a P2P order ended less than 5 days ago, you also have to wait the 5 days. Open positions must be dealt with first; bank cards linked for quick crypto purchases and any tax ID used for deposits must be removed first; if you hold a Bybit Card, Bybit recommends deactivating it first.
  • Only your identity information is transferred. The old account’s referral code, affiliate code, assets, registered email and phone number don’t move over.
  • Unclaimed rewards on the old account are forfeited, and the new account can’t claim rewards again for events the old account already joined, such as the new-user gift.

On the referral side, Bybit only states that “the old account’s referral code and affiliate code are not transferred.” This site has confirmed that when a new account registered with an affiliate code receives an identity transfer, the code it was registered with stays valid and the rebate is calculated under that code; Bybit’s help pages don’t mention this. Fee Otter’s guide also lists this as a way to switch referrers and says “you can’t transfer again within 180 days of a transfer”; that 180-day limit can’t be found in either the English or the Traditional Chinese version of Bybit’s identity transfer guide.

One more thing to keep in mind: this feature requires an unverified new account, but Bybit’s Launchpad FAQ states that “each user should only register one account,” and that mass-registering accounts to get more allocation violates the terms of service (Bybit Launchpad FAQ). Bybit doesn’t say this feature can be used to change referrers, so if you plan to do it, it’s best to ask Bybit support first.

Opening another account with a different ID document: not allowed by Bybit

Fee Otter’s guide says “Bybit lets you complete identity verification on 3 different accounts with a driver’s license, a passport and a national ID card.” That contradicts what Bybit says. In Bybit’s individual KYC FAQ, the answer to “Can I have multiple verified accounts?” is that each user is allowed to verify only one account, and the first common reason for a failed verification is that the system detected the same identity information on another verified account. Passports, national ID cards, residence permits and driver’s licenses are all accepted documents, but switching to a different document doesn’t make you a different person. This site doesn’t recommend doing this: verification may fail, and it may also violate the terms.

How do you confirm your Bybit switch worked?

Go to Profile → Account → Account Info and click the affiliate code field to see the affiliate code your account is bound to. Bybit explains that some affiliates’ IDs aren’t shown because of privacy settings, but this doesn’t affect the assignment. If you can’t see it, the most direct check is to bind your UID on a rebate site: if it’s approved, your account is under that affiliate.

How do you bind Bybit through Fee Otter?

  1. Register a new account through Fee Otter’s Bybit sign-up link, partner.bybit.com/b/FEEOTTER. For an account registered less than 14 days ago, add the affiliate ID 163627 as described above.
  2. Sign up for Fee Otter and bind your Bybit UID on the member page. Only your UID is needed, never your password, a verification code or an API key.
  3. Once you start trading, rebates usually show up in your Fee Otter history the next day. If nothing appears after more than two days, give your UID to support so they can check.

Fee Otter’s rebate page lists Bybit at 40%, all of it Fee Otter’s extra rebate, with no automatic fee rebate from the exchange (checked 2026-10-11). This rebate is paid by Fee Otter, not the exchange, and not Kevin Wu. For how it’s calculated and withdrawn, see Bybit fee rebate: 40% with Fee Otter’s sign-up code.

What are the risks of switching on Bybit?

  • Fees paid before the switch aren’t counted retroactively: rebates start only once the new referral takes effect.
  • Deleting your account can’t be undone: Bybit’s account deletion guide states that deletion is irreversible, the related data can’t be recovered, and existing rewards are removed as well (Bybit account deletion guide). Bybit doesn’t say whether deleting your account and signing up again lets you change referrers.
  • Restricted regions: section 11.3 of the affiliate terms states that for referred users living in European Economic Area countries, Hong Kong and, from 2026-07-01, Australia, no commission is paid, and commission already paid can be clawed back. A rebate site’s extra rebate comes out of that commission, so users in these regions can’t get it either.
  • Don’t use someone else’s identity: registering or verifying with another person’s account or identity information violates the exchange’s rules.
  • Give only your UID: never give anyone who asks for your password, a verification code or an API key; see how to spot a rebate scam.

FAQ

Can I change my Bybit referral code?

You can’t change a referrer or affiliate code that’s already bound, and an affiliate code you added can’t be cancelled either. The only exception Bybit states officially: an account registered after 2025-09-01 that trades less than 1 USD over 180 consecutive days, then comes back to trade through a new affiliate’s link, is reassigned.

Can I add a referral code after signing up for Bybit?

A main account registered less than 14 days ago that has no referrer yet can add an affiliate’s code; regular users’ referral codes can’t be added. The deadlines for each exchange are in can you add a referral code after sign-up.

How do I check which affiliate code my Bybit account is bound to?

Go to Profile → Account → Account Info and click the affiliate code field to see the affiliate code your account is bound to. Some affiliates’ IDs aren’t shown because of privacy settings, but this doesn’t affect the assignment. If you can’t see it, bind your UID on the rebate site: if it’s approved, your account is under that affiliate. For how to check on other exchanges, see how to check whether your referral code is bound.

Does my referrer follow me after an identity transfer?

The old account’s referral code and affiliate code don’t move to the new account; Bybit is clear on that. The affiliate code the new account entered at its own sign-up stays valid after it receives the identity, and the rebate is calculated under that code. This site has confirmed it; Bybit’s help pages don’t say so.

Can I open another Bybit account with a different ID document?

No. Bybit’s individual KYC FAQ states that each user is allowed to verify only one account; switching to a passport, driver’s license or residence permit doesn’t make you a different person. Doing this may cause verification to fail, and it may also violate the terms, so this site doesn’t recommend it. For the verification process and accepted documents, see the Bybit identity verification guide.

How much rebate do I get after switching?

Bybit itself doesn’t give invitees a fee rebate. If you bind to Fee Otter, Fee Otter’s rebate page lists 40%, all paid by Fee Otter (checked 2026-10-11). The rate may change; Fee Otter’s current page takes precedence.
