Updated Rules checked 2026-10-11
Once a referral is established on Binance, it can’t be changed or removed, so on Binance “switching” only applies to accounts that don’t have a referrer yet. There are three official routes: an account registered within the last 30 days, with no deposits or trades, can add a referral code itself on the referral binding page; an old account registered more than 90 days ago that has never had a referrer and hasn’t traded in the last 90 days can be bound directly through an affiliate’s recall link; an account that has already traded but has no referrer can use the affiliate switch request launched on 2026-09-28. For accounts that already have a referrer, Binance offers no switching channel. This guide covers the conditions for all three routes, how to confirm the result, the risks of deleting your account and signing up again, and the steps for switching through Fee Otter.
The official rules below were checked on 2026-10-11 and are provided for reference.
Can you switch your Binance referral code?
| Your situation | Can you switch? | How |
|---|---|---|
| Signed up within 30 days, no deposits or trades, no referrer | Yes | Enter a referral code yourself on the referral binding page |
| Signed up more than 90 days ago, never had a referrer, no trades or product use in the last 90 days | Yes | Log in through an affiliate’s recall link or QR code and click “Bind Now” |
| Already traded, no referrer | Yes, with conditions | An affiliate starts a switch request, and you reach 150,000 USD in trading volume within 30 days of submitting |
| Already have a referrer | No | Binance states that a referral can’t be changed or removed once established |
| Want to delete your account and sign up again with a new referral code | Not recommended | Binance states it may terminate the new account’s referral commission, and you yourself won’t get any rebate either |
Case 1: can you add a Binance referral code yourself within 30 days of sign-up?
Binance’s Referral Pro FAQ says that if you forgot to enter a referral code at sign-up, you can add it on the Binance referral binding page (question 4 of the Binance Referral Pro FAQ). All of the following must apply:
- The account was registered less than 30 days ago.
- The account has no deposits or trades at all.
- It has no current referral.
- It’s a main account, not a sub-account.
- Your identity verification details haven’t been used on another account in the past 180 days.
- It hasn’t been flagged for wash trading.
A single deposit or trade closes this route. If you’ve just signed up and haven’t deposited yet, add the code first and deposit afterward. If you skipped the referral code when signing up in the app, see what to do if you didn’t enter a referral code in the app.
Case 2: you’ve traded but have no referrer. Can you switch on Binance?
On 2026-09-28 Binance announced the affiliate switch feature (Affiliate Rebind) for accounts that are already registered and have trading history but no referrer. Binance explains that users without trading history can add a code themselves, while users with trading history have to submit a switch request and pass an additional eligibility review (question 17 of the Binance affiliate switch FAQ).
Eligibility
- Identity verification is complete and every account review has finished; you can’t apply while a review is still in progress.
- You have no current referrer.
- You’re using a main account, not a sub-account.
- Total trading volume in the past 90 days is under 5,000 USD (or equivalent); above that, you don’t qualify.
- You haven’t been flagged for abnormal trading and haven’t violated Binance’s terms or policies.
- You don’t live in a country or region where the referral program isn’t supported.
The affiliate also has to have completed identity verification before the request will be processed.
How the request works
- Only an affiliate can start a switch request: the affiliate copies a switch link from “Affiliate Dashboard → Referral → Rebind Requests” in its back office and sends it to you.
- Open the link. The referral code fills in automatically on the switch page, but it isn’t bound automatically; you have to confirm it and submit it yourself. You can also enter a valid referral code manually on the switch page.
- Reach 150,000 USD in total trading volume (or equivalent) within 30 days of submitting (counting from the day you submit). The referral is established on the day you hit the target; you don’t have to wait out the full 30 days.
Which trading volume counts
Counted toward the 150,000 USD: spot, futures, Convert, margin, and copy trading on the main account. Not counted: volume from any sub-account and volume on any zero-fee trading pair. The bStocks 3x boost promotion doesn’t apply to switching either.
After you submit
Both the affiliate and the user can check the request status on the switch request page. Once submitted, you can’t cancel it yourself; you have to contact Binance support. Whether you can apply again right after cancelling depends on whether your 90-day trading volume is above 5,000 USD. If a request fails you can apply again, but eligibility is reviewed from scratch each time and approval isn’t guaranteed; a new request will be blocked if one is already in progress or your recent trading no longer qualifies. Binance also states that switch requests go through review, compliance checks and final approval, and that the service isn’t available in some regions.
Look at the two thresholds together: under 5,000 USD in the 90 days before submitting, then 150,000 USD in the 30 days after. An account that normally trades small amounts won’t necessarily get there within 30 days, and for any extra trading you do to hit the target, you pay the fees up front and a rebate returns only part of them.
Case 3: your old account has been inactive for 90 days and has never had a referrer. Can you bind it through Binance’s recall program?
Binance’s Affiliate Recall Program lets affiliates invite users who already have an account to set up a referral relationship. The official FAQ lists four conditions for invitees, and all of them must be met (Binance Affiliate Recall Program FAQ, updated 2026-03-24, checked by this site on 2026-10-15):
- You already have a Binance account.
- You have never accepted any inviter, meaning the account has no referrer.
- The account was registered more than 90 days ago.
- You haven’t made any trades or used any products on Binance in the past 90 days.
Both 90-day thresholds were changed from 180 days on 2026-03-24. Binance doesn’t set a trading volume target, and you don’t bind by entering a referral code; you go through the affiliate’s link:
- The affiliate gets the new invitation link or QR code from the Referral Pro page and sends it to you. The new link works for both new and existing users; the old link can only invite new users.
- Open the link and log in to Binance. A confirmation window pops up.
- Click “Bind Now” and the binding takes effect.
Binance states that this feature is still in testing, the interface may differ by region, and it may not be available in some regions. Affiliates can see recalled users in the invited users list in their dashboard; Binance doesn’t say where invitees can check this themselves. Compared with Case 2, a recall doesn’t require 150,000 USD in trading volume, but you can’t have traded at all in the last 90 days. An account that has traded in the last 90 days doesn’t qualify for a recall and can only look at the Case 2 switch request.
Case 4: you already have a referrer. Can you still switch on Binance?
Question 6 of the Referral Pro FAQ states that once an invitee’s referral is established, it can’t be changed or removed, and the switch feature is open only to accounts that currently have no referrer. Binance has no channel for switching an account that already has a referrer. For each exchange’s deadline for adding a code, see can you add a referral code after sign-up; for how Binance’s switching rules compare with other exchanges, see the guide to switching referral codes.
Can you change referrers by deleting your Binance account and signing up again?
Fee Otter’s Binance switching guide lists a second method: register a new account with a new referral code, delete the old account, and after 35 days move the same identity verification over to the new account. Binance’s official rules conflict with this method:
- The Binance account closure guide states that if you close your account and then create a new one, your identity verification may be blocked for 30 days or longer; if you close your account and open a new one under a different referral, you lose eligibility for all referral rebates and can no longer join promotions or claim rewards. Binance doesn’t mention “35 days”.
- Question 7 of the Referral Pro FAQ states that when the system detects an account closed and a new one opened for referral benefits, Binance has the right to terminate all referral commission on the new account.
- Question 8 of the same FAQ states that the system uses identity details to detect duplicate identities; if the same identity details are used to set up a different referral on a new account, the referral commission is terminated and you yourself won’t get any rebate.
- A deleted account can’t be restored. Anything over 5 USD in the account has to be withdrawn first; assets you don’t move out are lost and can’t be recovered.
Going by Binance’s own wording, the likely outcome is a new account that earns no rebate and an old account you can’t get back, so this site doesn’t recommend it. Don’t open an account with someone else’s identity details either.
How do you confirm your Binance referral is bound?
Binance’s help center doesn’t say where an invitee can see their own referrer. You can confirm it in these ways:
- Switch request: check the status on the switch request page; binding is completed on the day you reach 150,000 USD in trading volume.
- Shared commission: when the referrer has set up sharing, Referral Pro converts the invitee’s share of commission into USDC every hour and pays it to the spot account within 6 hours. If that USDC appears in your spot account after you trade, the referral is working.
- Through Fee Otter: bind your UID on Fee Otter. If rebate records appear after you trade, your account is under Fee Otter; if nothing shows up for more than two days, give your UID to Fee Otter’s support so they can check.
Where to check your referrer on other exchanges is covered in the referral code lookup guide. If you still haven’t received rebates after binding, common causes are covered in what to do if your rebate hasn’t arrived.
How do you switch on Binance through Fee Otter?
- Check the conditions above and confirm whether you’re in Case 1 or Case 2.
- Sign up for Fee Otter and contact its support to get a Binance switch link.
- On the Binance page, check the pre-filled referral code and submit it yourself; in Case 2, reach 150,000 USD in trading volume within 30 days.
- Once binding is complete, bind your UID on Fee Otter. It needs only your UID, never your password, a verification code or an API key.
Fee Otter’s rebate page lists Binance at 40% (20% automatic from the exchange + 20% extra from Fee Otter) (checked 2026-10-11); whether the same applies after binding through a switch link is something you can confirm with Fee Otter’s support before submitting. The extra rebate is paid by Fee Otter, not the exchange, and not Kevin Wu. Fee Otter’s page gives the switching conditions as “no more than 5,000 USD” and “150,000 USDT”, and doesn’t list the main account, abnormal trading or regional restrictions; Binance’s official wording is “under 5,000 USD” and “150,000 USD (or equivalent)”, and the official rules take precedence.
What are the risks of switching your Binance referral code?
- Fees before you hit the target: a switched referral is established only on the day you reach 150,000 USD, and Binance doesn’t say that commission will be paid retroactively on trades made before that.
- Commission has time and tier limits: once an invitee reaches VIP 3 or above, referral commission stops; futures commission counts for only 12 months from when the invitee opens a futures account, and the limit is lifted only if the referrer’s commission rating is 30% or higher. When the referrer’s futures commission period ends, the invitee’s futures rebate stops too. For high-volume traders, see referral rebates for VIP users.
- Regional restrictions: from 2026-07-01, users registered in European Economic Area countries can’t take part in the referral program; if the invitee is a Hong Kong resident, neither side receives commission (Binance referral program supplementary terms).
- Commission may be cancelled: if trading is judged to be wash trading or a breach of the terms, referral commission may be cancelled. Fee Otter’s terms state that when an exchange claws back commission, Fee Otter can also claw back rebates it has paid; see when rebates get cancelled. Fee Otter is a third party; it may change its rates or shut down.
- Don’t hand over account access: you submit the switch yourself on Binance’s page, and a rebate site only needs your UID. Never give anyone who asks for your password, a verification code or an API key; see how to spot a rebate scam.
FAQ
Can I change my Binance referral code?
No. Once a referral is established, it can’t be changed or removed. Only accounts that never had a referrer can add a code or request a switch.
Can I add a Binance referral code after signing up?
If you signed up within 30 days, have no deposits or trades, and have no referrer, you can add one yourself on the referral binding page. If it’s been more than 30 days and you have no referrer, there are two more routes: if you signed up more than 90 days ago and haven’t traded in the last 90 days, you can bind through an affiliate’s recall link; if you’ve traded recently, an affiliate has to start a switch request, and your trading volume in the previous 90 days must be under 5,000 USD.
How much rebate do I get after switching on Binance?
The exchange’s automatic fee rebate depends on how much the referral code is set to share with you. Fee Otter’s rebate page lists Binance at 40% (20% automatic from the exchange + 20% extra from Fee Otter) (checked 2026-10-11). To use only the referral code without a rebate site, see Binance referral code.
How long does a switch request take?
There’s no fixed number of days. It’s completed on the day you reach 150,000 USD in trading volume within 30 days of submitting. Binance doesn’t state what happens if you don’t reach it within 30 days; if a request fails you can apply again, but your eligibility will be reviewed again.
Can a sub-account switch on its own?
No. Both adding a code and switching are limited to main accounts. Commission generated by a sub-account’s trading goes to the main account’s referrer.
For other exchanges’ referral codes and automatic fee rebates, see the exchange referral code overview; how rebate sites differ is covered in how to choose a rebate site.
